Default Changing gauge cluster lense?

I recently just bought my Z and there is some really annoying "markings" on the plastic lense/face of the gauge cluster. I tried cleaning it and picking at them but it seems to be within the plastic. Looks almost like heat stress? Idk.
So just wondering if anyone else has had this issue or maybe someone knows if I can replace just the plastic lenses?
Thanks for any help or advice.
Here's a few pics.

From what I can find, the OEM replacement is stupid expensive.

$192 for just a piece of plastic:

http://www.courtesyparts.com/-c-714_715_751_754.html

What I would do instead is try to find a way to remove the cover or even just take it to a competent audio guy and have them polish the scratches out with a buffer

I can't find a thread where someone has removed the lense from the gauges otherwise

if they are stress cracks no amount of polishing will resolve.

wonder if the other owner put an overlay on them?

Thank you! Yeah that's a stupid price for something like that lol. So helpful that you send that though, been searching and thinking what I could do and also on how to get the lens out the cluster. But again thanks for finding so thing helpful. My interior is all so perfect BUT that it drives me insane.

I'm not sure it honestly doesn't seem like an overlay in person, it's almost like it's tiny bubbles but you can't pick them or scratch them off. Just so tired of looking at it lol I want it clean looking.

Maybe previous owner used some kind've caustic cleaner not intended for plastic?

Sanding/polishing seems like a good option. You'd prolly want to trash them anyways. If it doesn't work, the gauges probably wouldn't look terrible without lenses either.

PO probably used an interior shiner or something like armor all for the dash and got overspray on that plastic.

Same happened in my car but on the plastic for the multi gauge.

I bought a plastic polish and polished it by hand for awhile and it helped, but there is still marks. If I polished it more or had an electric polisher to use with this polish I bought, it most likely would have got it all clear.

^^^ I agree with BranZ, that definitely looks like overspray of an interior detailer that baked in the sun during the day.

Same thing happened to the faces of my center gauges, some plastic polish and elbow grease cleared them right up.

What did you try to clean it with?

Meguiars plastic polish just might do the trick to clean it

That's what I used.

Went 4 rounds or so with it until I decided I had enough. I'm sure a bit more elbow grease and time would have got them perfect.

Do you know where I could find instructions on how to remove and replace the gauges? ALL of my lens need replaced. Looks like the previous owner used something caustic on the lens. I have tried cleaning, polishing by hand and dremel tool buffer all without success.
2004 roadster.

Thanks!

Dude, there's like (4)10mm bolts under the steering wheel/under cluster holding that thing on. Remove some of the cheap plastic crap out the way first and then get to bolts. Couple harnesses then its out. Easy. You should be able to figure out the rest how to disassemble the cluster. Stupid easy
