I've searched and found not much as far as the cubby gauge install goes. I found a lot of threads about how to mount the gauges, but nothing as far as running wires and what not. I've already mounted my gauges with an alluminum plate, so that's all squared away. How/where did you guys run your wires? Is there a specific spot on the firewall for the wires to be ran through to the engine bay? Any help would be appreciated.

I use my cubby. you can remove the box portion and that will give you a lot of room. I have a terminal block set on the back to where I can run my power and signals and easily remove my gauges. I have been through a few setups.

I ran my wires through the passenger side main harness exit by the battery box. You can also go through the gear shift rubber boot if you are careful.

are you able to close your lid? I had to recess my aem since the bezel is so huge.

 

No offense taken, it's not painted or filed down yet. I finished one that was for just 2 gauges and later ordered an oil temperature gauge. I'll throw a picture up of the finished one. I can still close my lid. Ok cool, I didn't think to run the wires through the right side near the battery, makes sense. I suppose I'll have to dremmel out some plastic pieces including the backside of my cubby to run the wires. I just needed a little guidance first before I go cutting up stuff that's not needed.

 

Here is what it will look like, plus the top gauge.

 

you can do it without cutting a thing.

take the waterfall out. there is a cubby box that attaches to the waterfall assembly. remove it. once removed you have full access to route the wires in the dash and behind the waterfall. you can run them under the passenger side and up into the main harness location.

I made my plate out of mdf. I did a few for members here as well.

Is this the part you're saying to remove? It's apart of the whole plastic center frame and can't be removed by itself. I found where I need to run the wires though (arrows). I'm kind of stuck.

 

no that part remains. There is a small box, bolts on the side. It is about 7x3x3 and has only the face missing. you can it with the cubby untouched/stock/oem. It is easily removed and allows you space to run wires. In the pic attached the boxes back face is about in the same position of the red box.

I wired to the bottom right since that was easier to run.

 

Ohhh, ok that makes sense. I already had the open faced cubby box (7x3x3) out and was confused as if there was something else to be removed. I think I'll run my wires just like you did at the bottom right as well. Thanks again!

 

I'm going to bump this thread since it's one of the most recent threads for the cubby gauges. Would anyone that posted here happen to have a triple cubby pod that they would be willing to sell? I would try to make my own, but I just don't have the time. Thanks.

 

From what I remember, there was a guy on here selling them a couple years ago. He has since stopped though. That's why I made my own. When I get home maybe I can throw up a better finished picture. It's honestly not difficult. Just need a hole saw, some plastic/metal piece cut to fit, this thread and you'll be golden!

 

Anyone tried Angleing them to match the stock gauges?

Looks good. I just bought my wideband and boost gauge, and want a fuel pressure gauge also. I wasn't sure if three would fit like this, but I'm glad to see they do. I think I will make my own, with aluminum plate, and paint it black.

Did you guys just make one piece of plate, flat with no bends, or anything, mounted with just the two screws at the top corners? Do you guys have a sketch with dimensions and locations of holes? I can do it if I need to, but sure would be nice if you could save me the trouble.
