Here's how to DIY......................................................... ............................
Get a can of Dupli - Color, Advance Auto sells this paint in a variety of colors. Get 100 grit sand paper or something a little less abrasive to get the stock paint off the covers. Use 2000 grit for a smooth surface finish.......this will take time. Wet sand & dry sand with the 2000 grit. Then wash cover with dish soap & dry it. Make sure the surface is smooth to the touch and has no pits & scratches or it will show through the paint. Take ur time and sand that b!tch smooth. Like I said wash the part with dish soap and dry with a micro fiber towel. Now paint it..........for every coat of paint i put on i waited 15 minutes in between.....I did a total of 3 coats.
Note: The more abrasive the sand paper is it will make the part look rough - 100 grit got the paint off quick but it meant more sanding time with the 2000 grit. Always finish with 2000 grit for a nice smooth surface.
How to get the switch covers off? Lift up on the padded armrest first next to the switch covers. You will probably break 2 parts here but not to worry they really do nothing. You don't want to break the tabs that lock the padded armrest into the door panel.
Passenger Side - Pry here with a upholstery tool or flat head we will begin to remove the handle. Use a 3/8 socket wrench w/ a 10mm socket to remove the two 10mm bolts. The handle will pull away from the door.
Once the handle is removed you can then remove the armrest then the switch cover then the switch. When ur done painting snap everything back into place switches, covers & armrest..........you will notice that everything is still a snug fit..............don't bust any locking tabs!!!!!!!!!
I'm happy with the results and appreciate my car even more.

Ok.. getting some clarification on how to remove the switch/grip panel on my 2008.
Apparently,.. and PLEASE correct me if I am wrong,.. with my 2008 there is NO screw.. You just pry the panel off, it's merely held in with clips.
Am I correct?
I will just by an OEM part.. instead of painting..
I'll Pry the scratched top panel off.. then pop the new panel on.. done.
In my pictures you'll notice there are a few scratches even below the top panel.. those I'll have to touch up with some sort of black paint.
What paint do you recommend with a small brush that matches the pictures I provided of my car to touch up?
Also, to clarify -- I just PRY that scratched panel off.. on my 2008 model there isn't a screw like the older models, correct? (I don't want to pry and snap something important

Now, I've looked searched on forum and google -- and need to confirm part number for this piece for 2008 350z -- For the cost, don't want anything I have to ship back, etc.
These websites like to lump together the 2005 stuff with the 2008 stuff.. and it's just not the same.
Links, numbers, etc would be great. Otherwise I'll just keep searching.

For whatever reason my 2008 350Z with 26k miles has one major interior blemish, and that is the Driver side Door "grip + power window switch plastic/rubberish cover piece.".

That one says for interior color code "g" -- I have no clue what my interior color code is,.. the piece just looks black to me. VIN decoders don't tell me,.. any ideas?
If I had to guess any Carbon Cloth or Charcoal Leather Interior is trim code "G".. , But I'm not sure.
Also,.. is $80 overpaying for this plastic piece?
This is literally the only part of the car that is blemished and man it's scratched to hell and back.. so definitely replacing it. $80 feels like Nissan dealership pricing.. but if that's the cheapest it is that is what I'll pay. Just curious how can I find the right "color code" so it matches my black piece I have already -- and if anyone may know a cheaper place to get it.

1. Many of the matte black interior trim pieces were inexplicably made with white plastic and painted with soft paint in matte black. You can scratch the paint right down to to the white plastic with your fingernail. Look at the door pull covers for similar issues.
2. I'm pretty sure g stands for gray. It is the overwhelming standard color for Zs. I have seen a few with caramel colored seats, but the rest is still gray. The parts are really matte black but the interior color is actually gray.
3. Yes, $80 is overpaying. I checked out a full interior set from Japan that is priced at over $1000, and it's still just stick-ons.
