Default S2K Antenna Loss Prevention

Sorry if this is in the wrong spot or if there were posts about this at some point in the past but someone just stole my antenna and im a little pissed off.

So im sick as it is today but I get up anyways and drive over to the Honda dealer to get a new antenna (down another $20). This time though I don't want to put it on until I find out if anyone else out there has done anything (like glued it with something) so that some kid can't just walk by and unscrew it.

Any suggestions?

some Red Loctite around the threads before you screw it in? I dunno if that would interfere with the metal contact for signal though...

Downside of the glue is the damage that will be left behind when the next guy TRIES to get the antenna off... oh well, it's a catch-22...

Just remove your antenna anytime you are away from your car. That way you know where your antenna is and it'll save you $20.

LOL was this supposed to be a joke? I can just picture doing this while on a date or something...people are going to thing you're looney . anyway if I were you i'd get some loctite and put a dab on the end of the threads. either that or install a video camera that monitors your antenna and find out who did it .

Homedepot carries it and think most hardware store should carry it.

haha, removing your antenna everywhere you go is loony but having a camera monitor your antenna is sane?

If you go the locktite route, don't put it on all the threads. The threads are the electrical connection between the antenna and the base which then connects via a wire to your radio. The locktite will insulate this connection if too much is put on.

Another solution is to put the stock antenna back on and only use your short antenna for "Special Occassions".......lol Who would want to steal a stock antenna?

You only take your antenna off in "problem" areas. "Problem" areas meaning places that you've had your antenna stolen before.

Do you garage your car at night or do you live in an apartment?

Smear feces on your antenna every time you leave your car. Whoever steals your antenna will be really sorry!

No i Dont have a garage but never had it stolen at home, it was at the mall while i was at work.

i dont know whod steal the stock antenna but i dont see why theyd take the s2000 one. how many cars can it actually be used for? the person was just looking for sometrhing to steal.

i dont know about the red loctite. i was looking at the company site and they dont list home depot as a place where they sell stuff. im gonna go check today if i can to see if there is anything else like it.

I also want to change to the s2k antenna but am also affraid of it being stolen. I wouldnt glue it because i would rather have then steal it than have them try to pry it off of my car.

I have the really shorty antenna from courtesyparts.com and its only about 2-3inches long and silver. It looks much better than the S2k antenna in my opinion. I just screwed it on really tight, used a pair of grip vice jaws and its basically impossible to unscrew with your hand, especially since its metal and not rubber.

I haven't noticed any change in the reception, but then again i dont listen to the radio much. Oh and it looks great! i think it was only $11.something.

U know u can do what i did with my head unit, my car got broken into, they tried to take my head unit, then saw about 20 sharp razor blades lining the unit so if they were to try to move it from its position, say goodbye to your hands, im sure u can do something like that lol.
