Default Complete me? Half way through understanding converting 6-pin to 8-pin HID plug

Hey all, and sorry for any redundancy in this question...I'm sure it's been covered before as I've searched this and other forums...but...this is as much info as I can gather so far on my quest to finally convert my non-HID base headlights to HID oem's (non-06 unfortunately).

Short backstory...I have blacked out oem's that are awful. Got a great deal from a nice guy on this forum on some 04 oem HID's that are close to new looking after I worked em over.

Now...before I take my car apart, I need to fully understand this 6-pin to 8-pin conversion process and know what tools I need, so I searched and found the following:

"And you'll have to decide what you want to do about the headlight-to-car connector:

The 03-05 NON HID uses a 6 pin connector. The 03-05 HID and 06-08 (all models) uses an 8 pin connector. Therefore the depos come with an 8 pin connector while your car still has a 6 pin. This is why going from 03-05 HID to 06-08 is fairly straight forward, but coming from 03-05 NON-HID is not.

Option 1:
You could take the 6 pin socket off your old lights, remove the 8 pin socket from the depos, and rewire them using the 6 pin socket so you can plug right up to your car.

Option 2:
Another option would be to source an 8 pin socket (car side) and replace the 6 pin on your CAR.

Option 3:
A 3rd option would be to remove the 8 pin from the depo's and the 6 pin from your car and use an alternative means of connecting the two (individual connections, a generic multi-pin socket, etc)."

That was from this forum....I'm going with a slightly different option though, maybe?...as the above options and the new option still confuse me a little...more on my confusion in a sec...

From other research I found:

"03 non-HID

(This is looking into the plug on the headlight)

6 Pins labeled like below

1 2 3
4 5 6

1 - Black (Ground for Low and High Beams)
2 - Light Green (Positive for High Beam)
3 - Green\Black (Positive for Turn Signal)
4 - Red (Positive for Low Beam)
5 - Green\White (Positive for Parker lights)
6 - Black (Ground for Parkers and Turn Signal)

This is the layout for both sides...

8 Pins labeled like below

1 2 3 4
5 6 7 8

1 - Black (Ground for Low and High Beams)
2 - Light Green (Positive for High Beam)
3 - Green\Black (Positive for Turn Signal)
4 - Red (unknown)
5 - Black (Ground for Parkers and Turn Signal)
6 - Red (Positive for Low Beam)
7 - Green\White (Positive for Parker lights)
8 - Blue (unknown)

This layout is the same for both sides...

pin 4 and pin 8 : these are used to tilt the projector up slightly when the high beams are activated. I didn't use these with my setup as I cound't find any info about them in the wiring diagram."

Me again...so...the diagram is awesome...but...that would be for wiring a wire INTO a plug...and I already have 6 wires going into 6 plugs...so if I pull out six wires from a six-plug plug, then I'd need a 8-pin plug to wire those 6 wires INTO...but I hear getting an 8-pin plug is nearly impossible....

So...someone online has previously mentioned that you just "replace the pins", and don't actually have to cut and strip wires....but...huh?...what does one do with "pins" pulled out of a 6-plug plug? Where do they then go? Still would have to have an 8-pin plug to swap pins into no?

I found a chart regarding re-wiring 6 wires into an 8-pin MURANO plug...but others say you can't easily buy such a plug, but more confusion...as the chart shows the same wire going to TWO places on the 8-pin plug.....HOW? Or is the chart saying that the #4 wire can go into EITHER of two locations?

The chart is attached as a jpeg.

Either way and all ways....I'm confused and really need help....

Can someone please walk me through what to expect and what to do? I REALLY want to finally get my new headlights installed...have had them for months while other life things were going on, but I'd love to get them in now.

The HID lights the guy sold me have the entire bundle...the ballast, the housing and the bulbs....I just have to overcome the 6-pin to 8-pin conversion and I'm home free.

Thanks to all who can guide me through this....brain does not have a degree in electrical engineering, gets shocked pretty quickly with anything that involves thinking.

Oh...I should add....I'm trying to go for OPTION 1, and things just cleared a LITTLE...that the car side will have a female 6-pin, and it's the male side of the headllights I'd be swapping out...taking off a 8-pin adaptor from the oem-HID's (04 model year), then taking off the 6-pin plug from my blacked-out oem's, then putting the 6-pin male plug onto the oem-HID's...but....there are eight wires on the HID's apparently....and only six holes in the 6-plug adaptor....

That's the part that's confusing me...or if there's another way please advise.

Ok..thanks everyone, tons have done this and I know it can be done, but I'm too much of a newb in this department to fully get this yet.

I did option #1. Works great. That way you leave your actual car harness intact.

Hey there Duke.

So how'd you do it? Did you strip wires and solder or just remove pins from one plug and slide them into the new plug?

I should explain I've yet to get hands on with the headlights, so all this reading of the internet and looking at pictures is all I've got to go by.

If you did the pin swap...any tips or instructions?

If you did the wire and solder...how hard is it? I've never soldered in my life, so I'm hoping the pin removal technique is as simple as some make it out to be?

Thanks for any advice, appreciate anything you can tell me.

Cut the wires and soldered. Covered with heat shrink tubing.

I'm still looking for info on how to do the removal of the orange thing within the plug....I think that slides out with some leveraging of a thin flathead screwdriver...after that the "pins", those grey little squares with prongs I think, will then be able to slide out the back or front...not sure yet till I remove the orange retainer clip thingy.

HOWEVER....another issue is I noticed is that my plug on the "new" oem headlights are adhered to the headlight housing? (see pics below)

Looks like the plug is pinned to the black plastic rail thingy when you look at the bottom of the black plastic rail thingy.

I thought the plug would just be at the end of a bunch of cabling and flopping around...but it's stuck to the housing and the wires that flow to it are right up against the back of the plug where the sliding in or out of pins or wires would have to happen...so I've got to figure that out too.

Anyone have the answer to taking the plug off from the housing?

Thanks for all help...so want to get these headlights in and be done with it.
