My new hand brake handle
I finally got around to installing this hand brake handle. I've always thought that the factory hand brake looked kinda out of place so I decided to make my own. I was hoping to make something easy to install but it turned out to be kind of a PITA. That rubber trim on the consul sucks and I messed it up a little. It's still a little wavy so I probably need to go back and try to get it to lay more flat. The pics are a little grainy from taking them when it was getting dark but you get the idea. And yes, it is a auto so don't give me crap about it. I have my reasons and I have a rat rod with a stick so yes I can drive one just fine.

Quick two cents just to help improve the look?
It looks like you're on the right track (no pun intended), but it's too bulky, too squared off (the Z lines are all curves, including the waterfall, the shifter itself is rounded, the circle around the shifter, etc etc), so the blockiness stands out as not matching the looks of anything else.
The other thing hurting the look is the silver grooves are too wide in the side of the ebrake handle...smaller and thinner would be a classy accent, but the wide grooves make your eye go straight to the ebrake handle...the handle should be a compliment to the interior, not the main attraction....shifter should be the most attractive as it's central to the car.
I REALLY like the idea and your creativity in doing this...just wanted to offer some tips on bringing this all the way to completion if you want it to be as good as it can be.
You could probably sell these if you got the design tweaked out.
Hope this helps,

Thanks for the ideas. To be honest was thinking that it's a bit blocky too. It didn't look as blocky mocked up out of the car on a spare e-brake mechanism that have. I was thinking that the button is a little too long as well. I'm not sure if I will put much more effort into this anytime soon though. I'm building a rat rod at home and have way more interest in working on it than in putting time into my commuter right now.
