Question Qusetion(Blue LED Parking Lights)

Some members bought a LED Parking lights from Ares. I also want to buy it. Is it illegal to change the blue LED parking light?

i believe it is illegal to have either red or blue lights in the front, as those colors are only for police vehicles.

hence why they give rice tickets out to people with fake xenon bulbs since they are blue (i once got one when i had my civic). Even though the light it emitted looked white to me, he gave me a ticket for having a BLUE BULB. The lights you are showing me are blue light, so then i would think those are even more illegal. Of course, it all depends on the cop and his mood, but just be aware that he can stop you if he wants to and write you up for it.

Oh yeah, and it's not one of those fix it tickets either, where you change your bulbs, take it to get it inspected and pay $5-$10, you actually have to go to court for it and stuff, it is still a non-moving violation ticket i believe ($40, which i paid because i didn't feel like going to court and stuff)

Hope that explains it.

My parking lights are 5500K white bulbs. The blue ones that ares sells look VERY blue.

The color is actually very close to the stock HID headlights. When the headlights are on it would be next to impossible for a cop to know your parking lights are not stock. If you are on the fence about these lights for this reason I wouldnt worry about it.

yeah those are 5500K. they appear blue just like HIDs sometimes do. just sort of inaccuracies with digital cameras I guess. the stock headlights are ~4300k. some cars come stock from the factory with 5500k bulbs. so the color is right in the range that would be considered "normal".

You could always cruise by your local High School and wait for the first kid to jump into a civic and ask him

yeah the pic is distorted. Look at the stock amber light on the side. In "real life" my little stock ambers look much different and better than the one in the pic.

why do the stock ones look yellowish in there, i would like a truely clear light. I can see how a pale blue might look good in there.

If they are blue, they are not legal here in Cali. No matter how many other amber bulbs you also have at the front
