What product (if any specialized for headlight cleaning) did you use?

My headlight lens yellowed/clouded in 2-3 months. The worst thing is the cloudiness was a lot worse after using McGuires PlastX.

I put a coat of wax on em, so hopefully that will keep the shine for a while... In theory it should at least for the 6 months that carnuba wax's last.

is it worth it to coat it and never have to touch it again???

opticoat is no longer.... it is now optigloss. i will be polishing out and coating my vette in a couple of weeks, thankfully i have a buddy that details cars and is doing mine for cost of materials because he wants to take pics of it before and after. check out detailedimgage.com... optigloss is on sale right now until the 28th (and they are a sponsor/vendor here)

Guess Im gonna have to do some more research on protectants..

The goal would to be obviously protect the paint and have it repel dirt and grime.

Have you done much research in this category? Would any other product be worth looking at? I just see the Opti name thrown out there all the time.. At least from the detailing pages I follow.

it is going to be chevy vs ford.... i have seen the opticoat personally and it is amazing stuff.... one thing i hate about my car now is the brake dust, well my buddy said we will do my wheels also and it will prevent some of the stuff sticking

I can attest to the other comments on this thread regarding them going yellow again.... sigh.

I got lazy the last time I was polishing the car.... just hit the lamps with the car polish and wax. They came out surprisingly well - given that I was ready for them to be totally scratched and I'd have to do the '06+ upgrade. Laff.

Guess I don't have an excuse to upgrade, do I?

detailedimage.com is the shiznit. other things you may want to consider

-optimum no rinse
-maguires microfiber wash mitt
-blue waffle towels
-rethickulus microfiber towels
-couple of grit guards
-grout sponge (for lower portions of car)
-fine grade clay bar (use diluted onr for lubricant)
-glanz wax (love this stuff)

I understand that, but you recommended that wax.. Would you say to put the wax over the opti-gloss?

Or were you just trying to say thats a good all around wax if i didnt end up doing the opti coat

Also... What handles better, your old Z or the new vette?
