So I just bought my 2004 350z Touring this past January from a private party. I was given only one regular key. I wanted to make a spare key so I walked into Home Dept. They quoted me $70 for an intelligent key. I was like DAMN, for one key?...lol So after I ran out of there, I thought to myself, "maybe my car had one of those intelligent key things." I'm not even sure if my car is equipped with that system. Is there a way to know for sure, before I buy an intelligent key if my car is equipped?
I've been driving with the regular key with no issues and the factory alarm keychain device. My car is not equipped with a push button start.

 

Yes we have a chipped key , it will also have to be programmed to the ECU once cut if you want it to work.

 

You have a NATS key, which looks like a regular key, but must be programmed. You do not have an Intelligent Key (I-Key) though. That wasn't available in the Z until I believe 2008.
