Official vinyl wrapping thread.
What brand are you using or prefer a type. I want to do my roof in a gloss black and always heard 3m 1080 is the best or something along those lines. I got some before to practice on a trim piece some other brand and even with heat it stayed to stiff for my liking. I have a G and want to do pillars and door trim in gloss black also
I wrapped my whole car in Avery vinyl first time around. The gloss black roof is still holding up great. The gloss white I had yellowed and stained insanely fast. So now I'm giving 3m a try and hoping a darker color will last a little longer.
It is similar to Interlagos, but this black rose will have less of an extreme color change. Ive seen Interlagos look gold in certain lighting. This vinyl should go from a wine red to purple to black depending on lighting

I'd also agree with the 40 hour number. A large portion of your time will be dedicated to taking the car apart and reassembling it. The actual wrapping time is low, especially on areas like hoods, doors, hatch and fenders.
After reviewing this thread, I've decided to try wrapping my Carbon Silver Z's roof in "Gloss Black" to get that panoramic effect.
Can I get some guidance on what size wrap to order and where I should order from online? I'm going to measure the roof, but I don't know if stretching the wrap changes the number.
Also, I'm reading that Avery SW900 is a little easier to use for beginners than 3M 1080 - should this be my option since it is my first time?
Great wraps in this thread - it's inspiring!

$400 is crazy for a roof wrap. Im no professional buy people ask me to wrap their entire car and I tell them $1000.
Wrapping the roof is very easy. Pull off the exterior pillars to make it easier. It can be done with 5'x5'. Don't get a smaller piece. If you want extra feel free to get 5x10 so you can try it twice

I'm not sure of the type but I've never been scared of a DIY thing. I had gotten some wrap to do interior pieces. The wrap I got was way to thick to do anything around corners or bends. I really hope I just had the wrong stuff and next batch like 3M 1080 is thinner/easier to work with.
Wrap experts. I'm gonna do the chrome upper door trim in a black wrap. The things is this door trim has about 5-7 small dings in it. Like normal chrome trim dings. Will these small indentions show up visibly after a wrap?
I don't know how many people watch this thread but does anyone have a reference to leather grain vinyl wrap for interior. I was going to re paint my interior pieces to a aluminum look but my phone has an amazingly real looking leather grained wrap and of there is anything thin enough for shaping with that leather look I'm all for it. I went to some sites looking for some but not sure on thickness. The last wrap I got was way way to thick for anything but a flat surface.
