Introducing Brainiac: Connected Car Technology with a 10.1" Display for your Z
The overall design for the 06-08 would be the same as the 02-05's but it would require some changes. Part of participating on these forums is to help us gauge the interest for the different years of the 350/370 to understand if the demand is there. So if you, or your friends, are interested in Brainiac for your vehicle please do let us know
We just hit a great milestone! Thanks to your feedback the 3D models have now been completed and we are moving onto the 3D printing phase for the prototype plastics to do some test fitting. You can check out all the renderings in the blog post

Are you going with the satin/gloss hyper silver on the bezel that is used on the Z for wheels/logo/etc?
Our early supporter 10% discount offer closed on the end of day October 31st. Thanks again to everyone for their support in making Brainiac a reality!

Yes the 06-08 models changed up the center console on us so we'd have to do some modifications to how we would fasten the screen to the center trim.

We're back from SEMA and are hard at work prepping the 3D print for paint and test fitting. More details to come. The rear frame that holds the screen and lower buttons is printing right now

06-08 soon please!! From the looks of the rendering, the burden of the difference between the 03-05 and 06-08 would be on the consumer to modify, since the headunits are interchangeable between all years.
One question though - will this be plug and play replacement for the Bose system as well? That system has the amplifier and most of the speaker wiring in the trunk/hatch area to the left (driver's side) of the spare tire.

With our "sandwich/insert" design we utilize the mounting points on the back of the center console trim and create a sandwich between the front visible trim, the existing center console and the rear inner frame that holds the screen and buttons.
From our initial investigations, it looks like the rear of the 06-08 center console trim is quite a bit different where it has the "bucket" for the upper storage compartment built into the plastic where the 02-05 has this as a separate part that is fastened to the rear of the trim with screws.
We'll have to take a closer look at the 06-08 to have a better idea of what would be able to be reused from the initial design.
**EDIT**
Whoops.. forgot to answer your question about the stereo. We would connect to the Bose system the same as other aftermarket stereo's using a PAC system. There are some details on this thread: https://my350z.com/forum/audio-and-v...omponents.html

Keep up the good work and maintain the project. There are plenty of 2003-2005 owners who would spend a good sum to get the large screen and its functionality. I have a 2003 that I’ve recently equipped with expensive leather seats, a suspension replacement, new wheels (good ones), and tires. I also just replaced the Car Entertainment System but would swap this out for your project.

Here are some quick photos that I took with my smartphone today during our test fitting and filming session.
Better high resolution "glamor shots" will be posted soon! My phone didn't capture the contrast between the colors of the dashboard and the new trim. Some of the lighting was washed out on my phone.

Mind if I give you some constructive input?
Too much silver....it doesn't look right in terms of blending with oem color scheme yet. The finish is enough of a unique texture compared to all others in car that it's making it obvious this was grafted in. The silver makes the satin sheen of that texture very obvious compared to the matte vinyl look of oem waterfall aesthetics.
I think the bulk of the silver should be dark grey/black to match the waterfall, then have only an inner bevel be silver as an accent, and the buttons likewise need to be black with nice decals to make them more professionally cohesive with the oem design as well.... Look at oem navi unit... Black buttons with sliver lettering....your design draws way too much attention to itself, making it obvious that this an aftermarket insertion. It also just doesn't match the interior design yet anywhere's near as nice as your Subaru version does.
Will look pretty nice once finished, but I'd push you like a good coach to dig deeper and put out the best product you can.
Hope this helps,

Not sure if this has been talked about yet, but if the screen isn't dimmable like the gauges are then that big screen is going to be really distracting and annoying when driving at night. Needs a dimmer of some sort for night driving as that's a big light source that can be easily seen from a Z's driver position.
