Introducing Brainiac: Connected Car Technology with a 10.1" Display for your Z
You have a great concept for a product that generates legitimate interest from many individuals (e.g., car owners, investors, etc.).
It is just so difficult to launch a product. I understand. There are many scenarios…
Any interaction with venture capitalists is an “adventure.”
I like your concept, and I’m sorry that it’s stopped for now.

- You have the product, but you don’t have the capital or the investors.
- You have the investors, but they don’t understand your vision.
- You have the investors, but they want to steal your company.

I mentioned in the 2nd post in this thread that the market was too specific, with far too few early Z and WRX owners out there to support such a project. How many guys here actually pre-ordered one, maybe 10? Nonetheless, sorry the venture didn't work out, for all involved.
^^ I did not preorder for the reasons you mention. It's an ambitious effort for a narrow market. The car manufacturers are doing this same thing right now for their current models. That leaves only the used car market where owners are resistant to spending $$'s on older vehicles (something dcains mentioned in one of his early replies).
EDIT: Kudos to Workshop12 for their honesty and their realistic assessment of the market and the practicality of their product.

Would LOVE to buy this APP / software for DIY tablet installations though, would that be a possibility? I am sold on dash tablet and have started once again to build my own.
Think theres anyway we could obtain or buy the template used to model the kit's trim ring? For those of us with 3D printers it would be a very nice addition for us to use a 10.1 universal kit or car PC. Just curious?
The trickiest part that we've been running into is finding an off the shelf LVDS cable that would work with the screen unit that was used when we were 3D modeling the screen cradle.
Last I heard he went out of business and Brian McCann got one of the last dash panels from the guy before he shut it all down.
The last post is from 2016....pretty sure he never resurrected the business, but who knows...just reach out to the company or ask on the FaceBook posts you're seeing. My guess is you're seeing new pictures of old finished projects.

For what its worth....I just put a 250$ android quadcore 7" double din in my 350 Raodster. With the bluethooth OBDII adapter and Torque App I can do pretty much everything this does and still have a radio.....This is WAY COOL but no radio no dice for me.
I use Pandora and Amazon Muci almost non stop but you gotta havea radio for those no data areas...
