I was thinking about getting the grill and going with strictly z license bracket through the tow hook hole? But was wondering if the zee bracket will also work with the steel grill?

If you are getting the stainless steel grill sold through Performance Nissan or Courtesy Nissan, you will have to modify it to use the tow hook bracket. You will have to cut out a piece in order to access the threads that the tow hook screws into. If you intend on having a front plate, this would not be an issue because the hole will be covered by the plate. Additionally, should you ever need to connect the tow hook, it would be a simple matter to unscrew the plate bracket and install the tow hook.

I have the stainless steel grill without the front plate. If I ever needed the tow hook, I would have to uninstall the grill in order to install the tow hook.

If you don't want to make a hole in the grill, but still want to install a front plate, you could use a plastic license plate bracket, drill a couple of holes in it to line up with a couple of slots in the stainless steel grill, then use small toggle bolts (turn sideways to get them through the slots, then turn them to vertical once behind the slot and tighten) to mount it to the grill. Then simply install you plate on the bracket. This would be fairly easy to remove should you wish to and it would not damage the grill.

 

I bought the stainless steel grille from Courtesy Nissan and you don't have to cut out a piece piece of the grille to access the tow hook.

It is fairly easy. They have a link to the installation instructions on the Courtesy site. The screw and plate on each end are the hardest to put in because there are some box like things behind the stock grill at those points.

rbaggett1.............I stand corrected. When I got my grill, there was not a hole for the tow hook. This is something fairly new I guess. Too bad they didn't come up with some sort of detachable cover or something for the hole in the grill.

 

Like Wedge said the edges are the hardest parts. Just make sure you use masking tape. You don't want to scratch your paint. Also you can use the tow hook as a sort of guide.

Wedge.... No problemo. When I originally bought the grille, I was like WTF? What the heck is this hole doing in the grille? But if I ever had to use the tow hook for anything, it sure beats having to remove the grille.

 

Have you thought about the chrome fender front grill. Its VERY cheap and looks great!

 

Reggi914, is the chrome fender you are referring to the strip of chrome that goes over the wheels (right on the fender)? Do you have a pic?

Hey Reggi914, originally you threw me off with the talk of the fender. I was originally thinking you were talking about the highlighted portion of the fenders in the picture I attached.

But after I saw what you were talking about, it's the OEM grille covered chrome door edging.

What exactly is the chrome fender front grille? I think I've seen this mentioned before. Is this the make-it-yourself thingy using door edge guards or somethign similar? Where can I find details, i.e. where to buy the chrome strips, etc?
