Stupid question about OEM parts vs aftermarket.
I damaged my front fenders pretty bad and was quoted at 2300 to fix them. At this price it seems like aftermarket + paint might be the way to go.
How good is the material on OEM compared to fiberglass or carbon fiber? And would it make more sense to repair oem?

If the damage is really "pretty bad", the fenders may not be repairable. But if you damaged BOTH of them, you probably suffered damage in other areas {like the front bumper}. This is why you have insurance to get a comprehensive repair done.
As for aftermarket body parts, they'll likely cost as much, if not more than OEM parts. OEM fenders will probably fit better as well, so the body shop won't charge as much to repair..

It has been a good practice as well as a general consensus to stay away from the aftermarket fiberglass fenders. The fitment is almost always off and no where close to the strength and durability of OEM fenders.
Depending on how damaged your fenders are, I would say purchase used OEM fenders and have them repainted.

I have bought an aftermarket OEM replacement before, not bad fitment at all. But unless something rad happened in the last 6 years, they are not that much cheaper $100 each I think it was. You could save that by doing labor yourself lol.
