Question Trunk not fully closing?

So recently I just noticed on my 350z the trunk seems to be popped up just a tiny bit. It fully opens and closes perfectly but while it's closed it has a very slight increase. Almost as if something is stopping it from closing completely. The other day I was with my buddy, he has a red 350z and he pointed it out to me and then I was able to see the difference in comparison... Any suggestions or ideas?

You can slightly see the displacement above the right tail light. Hard to see, this is the only picture I have at the moment.

When it's like that and you push down on it, does it go down flush where it's supposed to and pop back up like that, or does it stay like that?... And I mean gently/normally push it down, not hulkmode it...

It doesn't go down I lightly closed it and it just looks like this. Not sure if it's normal but it is more raised than my friends 350z.

Looks like it might be slightly bent. That can happen if an object on one side of the trunk was trapped and pushed the rear hatch up on one side.

I'll have to check when I get home from work but I think it's like that on both sides, not major noticeable but still a slight issue. Thanks for the reply though! I'll check later tonight.

I'm going to bet one/both of the hatch struts are installed with the bottom mount upside-down. Did you install new ones lately?

Ok. You lightly closed it. When you did that, did you hear the FIRST click? There's supposed to be TWO clicks till fully closed.

I just got the car it's still new to me, what do you recommend? I was going to take it in and get it buffed/waxed/polished, but still not sure.

Take it to a good detail shop and ask them if it's even a candidate. You need an adequate amount of paint thickness, and depending on how bad the paint is, it could be $200 - maybe even $500.

this... and it is hard to say how much, geographic location and amount of correction needed will determine the price. luckily my detailer is not very mechanically inclined so i helped him do coils on his car he did paint correction on my car

I tried looking online, and I know every location is different. I saw posts that were saying a paint job would cost around $3,000-$5,000. My paint isn't too bad theres no rust, maybe a scratch here or there, from a few feet away you wouldn't see any flaws; only up close. I live in Oswego, Illinois if that helps.
