haha...

That is a 'Electronic Toll Collection system'.

When they are passing through a high-way tollgate, don't have to stop and pay the charges if ETC is installed their car.
The ETC will automatically pay through the system.
It could be used by prepaid card or charged by bank account.

Sorry about my poor English, I hope u guys understand what I am saying.

I have my Z on order and I'm new to this board but ever since I decided to buy the Z my first idea was to design and replace the emblem on the front. I found a "shop" near where I live and talked to the owner, he said I need to bring the car in to check it out. Because I want the "outer chrome design" the same as the original with holes & etc. So it can be easy to install. Just exactly like the one that was pictured. The cost is appox. $4to $500.00 for the first one to make. I was just going to wait until my car arrives and start talking to other owners about emblem replacement on the front. The back emblem can come off very easily it's only taped on. My idea was to have the back of the car with no emblem at all!!!! Jerry.

I always felt that Nissan is making a BIG mistake by not promoting the Zcar like Chevy is with the Corvette. The car should only have the Z logo shown! Also...if anyone is interested in sending me the exact measurements of the hood emblem maybe I can get started sooner. I'm retired and have a lot of time on my hands! you can reach me at salvucci@nls.net thanks,Jerry

Jerry, I'm at work without a tape measure or I would get the measurements for you right now!

I personally think the picture I posted is what our front and rear emblems should look like (if this is at all possible). As far as a finish. . . brushed alumnium would be perfect. . . or a finish as close to our finish our door handles / 350Z logo on the left side of our hatch would be nice, so everything matches.

What do you think ?

Could you put me up on your list for this item when/if you complete it?

webiteks..I agree of what you are saying.... but the finish on the 350Z rear emblem to the left... isn't it a chrome shiny finish? I can't remember. At the present time, I think the emblem should be the same finish as the 350Z that is already on the left side of the trunk side. What do you think? I do like the finish on the door handles too! I sure wish I had my car right now but it looks like any time until mid April. I ordered a Super Black touring roadster. When I was at the dealership their was a Z parked with no emblem in the back, I thought the car looked sharp without the Nissan emblem. The reason it was off the car because they were prepping it up to paint because it was delivered with scratches on the car.

Jerry, you can put me on the list for this Emblem too. I can send you my Nissan emblem if that would help you with exact measurements. I replaced mine with the Z emblem from Courtesy so they are just laying around collecting dust. You can email me with your address and I will ship them to you. sean_kang@yahoo.com

Thanks, and I hope you pursue this worthwhile endeavor.

Hey guys, here's what I received back from www.emblemart.com

Hi Scott,
Thanks for the note. Sorry for the delay, as our email servers are being
changed.
We have been making quite a few changes to EmblemArt. We have upgraded our
manufacturing, and are finally able to keep up with the demand for custom
emblems.
Our problem in the past was that some items we couldn't make fast enough, or
reliably enough. Also, the variety of finishes available looked great, but
nobody wanted them, just chrome!
We will offer illuminated emblems again in the future, but we are developing
a better process for now.

Now, about the Z emblem. We would be happy to do them, in any quantity. The
one in the photo is great, it shows a highly sculptured face. The normal way
to replicate it would be with a complex injection mold and and a dedicated
3-d design. It is doable, but only in large quantity--at least 500 pieces.
There is a charge for the manufacture of the tooling, etc., which can be
between $800-1500. We can do that.

I'm sure you don't need 500 pieces, though. Our process can make chromed
emblems of a less-sculptured version, and we can make them on demand, in
small quantities, and without the need for expensive molds or tooling setup.
The key will be for us to have a design that everyone will like, and then
produce on demand; so you don't have to buy them all at once. If you'd like,
we can come up with a version of the Z emblem to replace the Nissan
'hamburger'.
We'd be happy to work with you. Just let me know about approximate numbers
of emblems, so we can work out a price per emblem.
As always, we do not charge for the design help, and there are no hidden
charges.
best regards,
marc

So guys, I need to know if everyone would still be interested if the design turns out alright. Anyone have additional input to the design? Maybe we should have a poll on what everyone wants.

I defiantly know that I wouldn't want a "Chrome" version, becuase that is what we currently have and it stands out WAY TOO MUCH in my own opinion. I think if we can get a finish to match the 350Z on the rear hatch, that would be perfect.

Also, a 3D design exactly how the picture I posted would be the best (again. . . in my own opinion)

What does everyone else think? I am willing to pay what it takes, becuase this is custom work.

It looks like their willing to do the full emblem for a minimum quantity of 500. The $800-$1500 would only cover the tooling for the emblem. I also believe that the front and rear emblems are actually slightly different sizes as well. If this is true, I would expect a double price on the tooling. At this point I don't know if we could find 250 Z owners that would be willing to purchase new emblems... all at the same time. Also I'm not sure that we'd have any custom options with this type of manufacturing. What do you guys think about this?

Did they mention a price on the actual emblems? From what I understand, the $800-1500 only covers manufacturing costs. I wonder if they can split the quantity of 500 into 250 front emblems and 250 rear emblems if there is a difference in size.

I think the front & rear are the same? Regardless at 1500 for tooling thats only $3.00 per emblem for tooling plus the additional costs for materials and their markup I cant imagine they would run for more than 50 or 60 each.

Should we start a poll with the pic & see how many are interested. Maybe we can get a group buy going. This is very doable. Good work!

I can tell you right now that I'm interested and would be willing to contribute 100.00 for this project for my portion.

Everyone has to realize. . . This is a completely CUSTOM job, so it is going to be expensive regardless. I'm just keeping the motto "you get what you pay for" , and if we can get this emblem done with the 3-D design, it is going to be VERY NICE and definatly VERY CUSTOM for us guys who will be going to shows.

Count me in!

they said 1500 for the exact one we made because of tooling, but it also mentions a much cheaper way of doing it and not having to run 500+ but on demand, I think we should look into doing it that way.

we would need alot of people to like that emblem in order for the first way to work, not to mention if 500 people have the exact same emblem how unique is it all of a sudden?

Also on finish... Id like the same finish as the door handles if possible

The "cheaper" route was a chrome finish. Most of us don't want chrome. 500 would still be pretty rare considering the number of Z'z out there. If you consider 2 per car ony 250 Z'z would have them. I'd consider that rare.

Just make them so they fit the front since it has the indentation that must be filled. The back is in a smooth area so a slight size variation from the original won't make any difference. This way there would be no need to make different front and rear emblems. Some of us are only going to want one. Some will want front, others will want rear.
