Hey everyone! I bought a 2009 g37x coupe exactly a month ago and have been extremely happy with it. When I was changing the spark plugs, I found some oil on the driver’s side top spark plug. It was a very small amount but I want to take care of it before it gets any worse.
I bought the Mahle replacement valve cover gasket. However, I read somewhere that Fel-Pro makes them a bit beefier for more reliability. Should I go that route?
A friend and I are going to work on it this weekend, does anyone have any advice or tips?vidmate mobdro word counter

Whenever I do my gaskets for the covers I do this:
1. clean mating surfaces valve cover very well with brake cleaner,
2. do a quick wipe of the rubber gasket with brake cleaner (not as important if the gaskets are new)
3. caulk a light bead of black RTV (I always Permatex) in the valve cover gasket seats and install the gaskets into the valve covers
4. clean the mating surface of the heads with brake cleaner
5. apply a very light coating of RTV to the heads (where the gasket is going to mate against)
6. very carefully install the valve cover (with the gasket installed in the valve cover) on the heads
The goal is to have a RTV on both sides of the gasket. Meaning: Heads > RTV > Gasket > RTV > Valve Cover ... torque to spec
I've done this on all my re-seals and I've never had a leaking valve cover.
