Default Just got a warning for tints....

such a load of horse ****.....i was driving to work usual drive early in the morning....not speeding or anything i pull into my work parking spot and all of a sudden i see lights and i am like wtf so i get out of the car and i proceed to head towards the cop and i am like is there something wrong he tells me to get back into my car and get my licensce and registration ready......i was totally confused of what i did.....he later came up with a tool and put this thing up against my window and said my window tint was illegal he says it was 26% or something when i have 30% i mean 30 is illegal but....its not that ILLEGAL....he said i was way off from being legal and all this other bs he said my rear window is fine the tint it is at.....i was totally confused how he thought i had 26% but maybe he was reading it wrong i dunno...ive had the tints on the car for how long and many cops have seen the tints and haven't said anything to me about it...all of a sudden....luckily the cop knew me and knew my car cause he see's me just about evey day driving to work.....acted like he knew me and i knew him....so it was pretty chill just dont know why the cop would care this much.....legal tint in Virginia is 35% i know that....dunno why my tint would come out 26% and not 30%....was it the lighting or what.....just my luck got a ticket a few weeks ago for drag racing and now this for window tints....my luck right......

the windows are tinted slightly from the factory, not much like 95% but its there. you add to it.

good example, many dont realize when they think they are legal at 35% or so, a cop would still read it as illegal and could ticket you if he wanted.

your way out would be to show a reciept or something at court showing you have 35%, that might work. but since you have 30, it wouldnt have.

if he wants to bust your ***** he will. nothin you can do.

not necessarily. I once got pulled over by CHP just for window tints and no front license plate. I was not speeding.

what are the max fines for illegal tints? so next time i get pulled over for this **** i know how much dmg this is going to do to my pocket.... i think i can get proof that my window tints are legal even though they aren't...i know the guy who owns the window tint shop and he could give me a receipt that says 35% tint on it.....possible this could work....

I think the fine is somewhat weak <100$ atleast. but bigger problem would be if he makes it as a fix-it ticket. then you gotta show proof that the car isnt tinted.

My friend used to get pulled over every week by these **** cops in his area.

We saw other cars that had similar stuff.... clear corners, hyper white signals, and tint.

Once the cops in that area busted another one of my friends for having altezzas saying it was illegal.

What my buddy used to do after getting ticketed was pull down his windows when he sees a cop.

As for me... I got pulled over for having "blue" license plate lights when they were actually white LED. He didn't ticket me, but it irritated me that he followed me far just to pull me over.

As for my window tinting ticket... it was about $75. I haven't gotten pulled over yet, but I have my recipt ready just in case I do get pulled over.

Here in FL non-moving violations are $40 i believe.
If you take them off and take it to get it inspected you pay court fees only, which would be like $5-$10, but you wouldn't have tints anymore.

Hey, Sins4u33.
I understand ya. I'm in Va too. If you get "Fix-it ticket", here is a tip.
What i did was I went to the tint guy who worked on mine, asked him for fake invoice which will have "strip front window tint @ XX.XX" then, show it to court, then the will drop the ticket. you will only need to pay court fee.

he later came up with a tool and put this thing up against my window and said my window tint was illegal he says it was 26% or something when i have 30% i mean 30 is illegal but....its not that ILLEGAL
This always cracks me up. It's like saying... "Sure, I robbed the Circle K, but I only got $125... it's not like I knocked off a bank or something"

It's still illegal and you knew it when you put on. Deal with it. I have 20% tint on my Z, but I know the law and know the risk I was running when I put it on my car. If I get ticketed for it and have to have it removed, I sure wouldn't be wasting time here whining about it.

That's just great -- a shop does a customer a favor to help out in a time of need. Said customer then posts the shop's name, location, and a detailed description of the illegal activities on the internet for all to see.

Now that's gratitude!!
