Convertible top on my 2005 Roadster not closing all the way.
I’ve seen a handful of threads but no actual reason as to why my convertible top isn’t closing all the way to the lid. There’s about a 1/2 inch gap which keeps the top from coming down as close for the pillars for securely latching.
While I was driving on the freeway it popped open so I pulled over to secure and the latch wouldn’t hold.
My mechanic (trusted for years) replaced the pull down cable and the latch mechanism itself as it was old and had stripped out - but STILL it isn’t properly seating on the lid and I still have to pull down hard to secure the top to the pillars and center latches. I don’t want to strip another latch system and my mechanic doesn’t know at this point. Hoping I get some clarity and steps to fix. Here are some interior and exterior pics for reference.
