Is $400 too much to paint and install a wing?
I ordered a a Vizage wing, and brought it to Ultimate Z to see what they could do. It needs some work due to imperfections in the finish and chipped leading edges. I agreed to it. Did I get ripped?

If the quality is top notch and your 100% happy with everything I think you got a good deal. Ya I'm sure somebody can get it "done" for less but ya know how that goes. lets see pics!!!
I dropped it off today. They said it would be painted and ready to install in a week. But I may decide to go back, cancel the whole thing, and get it done elsewhere. It sort of depends what you guys tell me. I will be sure to post pics.
that is a little expensive. the average price for paint and install for a wing should be around 200. i also have the vizage wing and i know that they dont come in perfect condition. my wing needed alot of prepwork. so that is why he probably charged you that much

400 is too much. they are just lazy and charging you extra for the prep work.
Fiberglass parts have lots of little imperfections that require detailed prep work. Many shops dont want to spend the time on this tedious job. They can make more money spending that time on the big insurance jobs. So they charge you more for thier time.
Now saying that. If the shop has a great reputation and you are gonna get a top notch job. Pay the 400. I mean top notch.
you might save 100 bucks or so somewhere else but whats thier reputation. To me thats what your paying for.
Go with the best place not the best rates.
Good luck

For $400 it better be perfect. Not outrageous price, but definitely at the top of the range. I just had two Top Secret mud guards prep'd, primered and painted for $80. And they are good sized pieces.
