Default does anyone have tiny scraps of carbon fiber that i could have?

all i need is two flat, glossy pieces 1 1/2 inch x 1/2 inch. i asked pinnacle, but they never responded. guess they are too busy.

just some scraps left over from a project or whatever.

i want to insert them into the nissan hamburger on the intake cover.

reen makes them for not real expensive, you cant just cut the carbon fiber or it will crack and fray.

its gotta be cut in some special way Im not sure of, maybe a water jet, whatever, Id just get it from reen and save the hassle of gaps and whatever.

got sidetracked finishing lots of little projects like some door handle barrel inserts and such. Jeff is getting me an engine cover in a few days and I will use it to design the inserts. Just have not had time lately to drive around and do this stuff. If in the meantime you find it that's good too. But it is on my to-do list for sure.

His link was dead because he put a comma in it. It's www.machv.com

EDIT: Here's the direct link to the CF part of their site: http://www.machv.com/cafiplsh.html

thanks for all the responses. i really appreciate it.

i bought from pinnacle liquid in the past and they make high quality parts. i may be willing to wait for them to develop the part.

although, that link is pretty cool. i dont really need such a big piece, but is definately something to think about.

I used a holesaw and a dremel tool to cut one of reens CF NAV plates and it didn't crack nor fray.

Ragtopz: I have a piece exactly the size you are looking for I could send you. PM me.

FYI:
cutting carbon is pretty hazardous.. always use the highest level of filtration on your gas mask, and wear gloves.

carbon fibers that get imbedded in your skin will itch and takes a LOOOOOOOONG time to dissolve. so its best to avoid it.

if you're drilling, use progressively larger bits as using too large of a bit will crack.

Having never worked with CF before, it would have been nice if this type of thing was mentioned in the paperwork with the reen CF plate. Thanx for the info.

Default the hook up

ragtopz-

If you still need this I'll hook you up. I have some larger emblem fillers that I rejected for one reason or another that you can have. I should just start making these...

Is anybody really interested?

I do mention wearing a dust mask, but I'll add a recommendation that one wear rubber gloves as well. Having worked with CF for years myself I shouldn't have overlooked that.
