Question Carbon Fiber door handles

This directed to suiteEgraphics or anyone else interested. How about some carbon door handles... i know i hate mine, being as it is the only thing still silver, and i dont want to paint them. That and it would look sweet.

Anyone else agree or have ideas?

I tried to drum up interest in vinyl overlays for door handles. I figured you could go with a color and then if you changed your mind you could go back easily. You could do a carbon fiber type overlay, I think. Unfortunately, there was not enough interest. I bought some vinyl and plan to make my own overlays this weekend.

the edges and seams would be damn near impossible.

anyone comes up with a good way to change the color of the handles I have a spare set in the basement waiting to be modified.

Im not too keen on overlays though, on such a high traffic part that gets touched, pulled and bent, I donno about its longevity.

theres the guy with yellow and blue that had his shaved. (sorry cant remember your name)

I like the handles though... just not the color. its a focal point, very unique to the Z, couldnt imagine removing it.

Id like to see what others come up with but from the side, like Ares said, the door handles help set the Z apart and stand out. Taking them off would seem odd.

let's just make it out of light weight composite and polish/chrom it, how about that?!?! or just make a made out of 'real' CF handles, that's even better!

I donno, how bendable is CF? that sounds tough to get a nice weave in a pattern like that. plus I bet itd be real pricey, probably more than most of us would be willing to pay for door handles.

I asked around about having a part machined out of a solid block like aluminum or titanium. you know, like that guy does on the american hot rod show. with the drill and whatnot. I never really persued it.

oh yeah, forgot, the reason for the solid metal is that you could have it powdercoated then, which would be cool

oh yeah I didnt mean bending after its cured, but like I dont know how extreme of an angle you can get, also dont know if you can do thickness, and I dont know how youd get the screw holes to mount the guts into it.

no to mention strength, its strong and all, but its not particularly flexable. if you open it and slip off and it smacks back down, it could crack or something, that would suck.

There are low temp powdercoats available to do plastics. I believe I saw some with a 250F cure temp.
