Light-up door reflectors?
So, I was working on my stereo this weekend, and noticed that the reflectors in the doors (interior) were translucent. Has anyone put any lights underneath them? I was thinking of hooking up some that would turn on when the door opened, but wasn't sure if there was already a wire I could use or if I'd have to tap into the dome light...

This site reads in Japanese (what else?). However, it can be translated into English. Essentially, he says that he utilized his heated mirror wire. The labor doesn't end with just the door panel being removed. You can also tap into the fuse box for power and then tap into the door switch for the ground wire.
However, locating the proper interior dome wires, would then allow your new door courtesy lights to fade simultaneously with the over head dome light.

I've read the translation 5 times over and don't get it *sigh*
Are wires run through the door, or did they reqire the fusebox so that the power to the heated mirrors is triggered by the door opening??? Huh???

Processing that to the business in the left figure. From the place of the fuse connecting the line of power source side to BCM, utilization to the line of ground side of the reflector.
Processing the fuse which is cut off, it makes wiring in order to connect to BCM (the upper figure)
From fuse BCM32 turn terminal (room ramp control line) connection (the right figure). By the way connecting also wiring of the key ring here, it increases
Wiring of blue and the black which are not used on door harness side of the door mirror connector. Black with ground blue power source line of heater mirror. Connecting the ground line of the LED reflector here. The white line which to the power window & the switch is (regular power source) connecting the power source line of the reflector.
With this completion. When the door is opened, the reflector lights up.

If you really want them installed in your Z, you must remove both door panels and the front kick panels as well. You will need to fabricate a bracket to hold them in place (just behind the OEM door reflector). Then route the power and ground wires from each door light into the car. Then find a suitable power source. (ex: cigarette lighter or other constant power source in fuse box area) The 350Z door switches currently supply the ground. Make sure that you connect both ground wires together. This will then allow either newly installed door light to illuminate simultaneously when driver or passenger door is opened.

Oh, I know, I jsut didn't want to run new wires into the door. I've already run huge speaker wire through the factory harness and don't have room for any more wires!

Hey, aside from the typical Z panel removal labor, it's a relatively cheap MOD (under$15.00 for parts) that looks pretty good after your done.
