removing sliding cupholder

Default removing sliding cupholder

anyone know how i can remove the cup holder. spilled some coffe and now it's all sticky...ewww! thx

its easy, when you pull it out on the top is a groove.. use a flat screw driver push it in until it stops then gently press it down. this will release a tab. use a small amount of pressure or else you will break the tab.. it does not require a lot of force .. but if you do break it its only about $35 to replace.. I'll post up a pic of the service manual to help explain

ok here is the pic.. use the screwdriver where the red arrow is.. yes its not how the service manual says to do it.. but having taken it off i say its the easiest way of taking it off.

here are the official instructions.. I suggest going through the top.. the manual says to go through the bottom..

Not trying to be a smart-as*, just wondering what you'll do with the square hole left after removing the cup holder?

removing the cup holder allows access to a bolt for removal of the lower finisher allowing access to the ECU..

erm, I think he is just removing it to CLEAN it, not permenantly.
