Just did it in photoshop to see how my Z will look like with painted cf mirrors (f1 style).

1) no mirrors



2) hi mounted mirrors



3) back mounted



4) forward mounted



What do you guys think?

#2 looks decent, rest just look foolish...

 

Of all the images I prefer the stock ones, but keep trying.. you might hit on something. I think someone is selling some mirrors with lights in them like the MB ones. They looked pretty cool too.

 

I don't need lights. I want to save weight. good cf mirrors weight less than 100 gramm. Vs 3 to 5 pounds of stock

 

Stock or #2, in my book.

Im assuming u plan on racing your car, if your worried about weight. #2 its requires the least amount of eye movement and head turning. Plus it looks better there. You cant go wrong.

Dam. I thought it was a toy car when I first looked at the pictures.

 

Now, who'll produce #2 for decent price? It's quite possible to use stok triangle piece and mount some generic racing mirror to it, but it's not going to look too nice, since it has to be cut at the bottom, where the stock mirror rests... and it cant'be just polished to hide the cut... but then, if it's putched with some cf and then painted... hmm... it's probably going to work.

Now who can find good priced racing mirrors? I posted couple links in other thread, but hope, somebody knows something that is proven on other cars

It was a complete bolt on, no modifications at all, except these aren't power.

 

To have those bolt-on triangles would be nice. After that it's simple to add some cf mirrors of my choise

 

not worth the weight savings. that just looks strange. IMO you should get NOS/SC/TC and stop throwing away pieces of your z. this mod in particular looks odd.

 

To be honest, I'm not to crazy about the shape of the mirrors, especially after i put them on the car, the shape makes them look saggy. But they are atleast 5-10 puonds lighter than the power stock mirrors. So just for that i feel they are worth it.
