Default Matching paint for Daytona Blue?!!

Anybody else here have problems with the body shop trying to match the paint for daytona blue? My body shop has done my kit twice, and it still doesnt match.

Any help would be appreciated....thanks

If it's DuPont paint, the correct code is one of the old ones that they discontinued (according to my body shop).

you could always take it to a different shop. its not that hard to paint it to match, so long as they know what they are doing and can blend/shade it on the edges. what piece is it and what type of material? different types of materials will show up different shades, so dont expect it to be perfect but pretty darn close

I'm going on repaint #2 for my Stillen wing. The first time he took the paint code and it came out purple. For try #2 I left one of my splash guards with them to match it. We'll see what happens, it's been about a week, so it should be ready any day now.

My bodyshop just get the paint code on my car and it match perfectly.I would agree sometimes it depends on the material of the kit.

Default factory paint is very thin

and beleive it or not, the color of the primer plays a major role in the final look. If the paint were put down thicker it would not matter much. Nissan uses a very thin color base coat. So thin that if you apply it over white it will be lighter then if you spray it on black. Your body shop is probably spraying on a nice thick coat, properly I might add but is having difficulty duplicating the cheesy thin, non hiding color coat the factory deposits. Knowing the color of the primer under the facotry color coat would help him alot.

u should ask me.
the paint for my previous nismo bodykit matches neraly perfect(the original paint is a tinny bite darker, but the difference is so small that u'll have to see it carefully under the sun ).
and the current amuse bodykit is about the same case as the nismo.

had the same problem... got both sides of the car keyed... a 4 day visit to the paint shop ended up being a 3 week adventure... They told me at the shop that this blue has more metallic than any other color they have ever done minus silver.. ended up matching it pretty close ( a little darker (more purple-ish) than stock, but it looks fantastic overall, especially in the light.). still has to go back in the shop for 3 small spots that are not noticed until around sunset.
