Do you prime before painting or just sand?

Wonder how this would look in a matching DB instead of black (if the paint could be somehow made high-temp)

use to paint headlights a lot for IS300s... no u don't need to prime, sanding it would be good enough. Also, i don't think high temp paint is absolutely necessary, it gives you a peace of mind but its not likely that it would bubble. I painted a few sets of headlights with custom paint to match other people's car (non high temp) and no one has complained of bubbles...

We talked about that our meet tonight. Might look pretty cool. The new Corvettes have the same thing, color matched housings. Someone outta chop mine DB, I'd like to see what that would look like.

I can paint it white, blue, black, red, etc but I also have a contract with a body shop that will color match the headlights.

ferrari style! I hope to get mine a nice gloss black that will blend in.

what Id really like is to redo the headlights to a lens style where there is no reflector left for anything.

also, instead of the clear strip..why not paint the orange one with a white base coat and then a coat of light silver

might give the same effect
im gonna do that if Mr zipps cant make clear strips

Zipps, if you can fabricate these clear strips, people are going to be knocking down your door. Please please let us know when you can Finally I got to see your work and you sir will definately be getting a set of lights from me shortly after you give us the OK on clear strips.

Bat,

Does your turn signal seem less intense?

It seems like the loss of the reflective backing may reduce the appearance of a bright enough signal....??

There is some affect on brightness, but still quite visible. I will take pics and post them here.

Yeah, I second that. I think Bat's headlights came out awesome. Put me at the top of that list for cleared reflectors when you can make them.
