Hmm... I'm sorry

I'm giving this a big big bump, because frankly, I am not seeing ANY moderation being done, and it's getting to me

There should be soon.

I've also noticed Kcobean posting in the Performance section often.

The newbie posts don't really bother me that much. I am glad we all haven't turned into "USE THE SEARCH BUTTON" crazys. The thing that bothers me most is the posts selling items in forums other than the classifieds. It gives that person an unfair advantage to sell their item. The other thing that bothers me is some of the personal attacks that get going. Those need to be locked REAL quick and most of the time deleted or heavily edited if they do contain good information.

But honestly it's not to hard to just not open a thread you don't want to read.
Eh, while rx7club is a great forum, the same newbie questions come up every couple of days in the 2nd gen section. It doesn' seem to be nearly as bad in the 1st gen or 3rd gen areas but I believe they have less traffic.

Every other day someone puts up a post with questions about an NA to Turbo II swap or turbocharging an NA motor haha However, their search works very well and they have a SOLID archive section in each forum.

Cool thanks for the update. If it helps; I still use Crystal Guard religiously. I know Adam for awhile and I know what he is saying it happens on every forum. When I joined this forum their wasn't *any* CAI's even out and I jumped on the first one made (Injen).

I think the bottom line is there is no way to avoid those types of questions it's part of all forums. It can be limited with the FAQ and links can be given but it's up to us old timers to welcome the newcomers who are just as excited with their 2005 Z's as we were with our 2003 Z's.

In fact I **still** get PM's about where to tap the fuel line for nitrous etc and I politely answer each and every PM even though I haven't ran N20 for about 18 months or so I think?

I will continue to be friendly and answer questions too and ignore threads I have no interest in.

Self moderation, what a concept!

What this forum needs is some good solid information about modifications. If the people with really good knowledge of comparisons of different brands of products would write reviews then we could start a "Knowledge Base". Say a member of the board has had A LOT of experience with CAI. They could write a review of the most popular brands giving facts (not opinions) about different products. Or if someone has tried "more than a few different exhaust systems"(lol)on their cars trying to find the right one, they could post sound clips, performance gains, etc... all in one thread.

In this area users would NOT be allowed to post replies without those replies being reviewed by a moderator or admin. That would keep the threads short and full of nothing but excellent information and not all the posts like "great thread" or "thanks for the info".

Of course, to do this more moderators would probably be needed but the board is already in need of more moderators just to sift through the current information.

The admins need to start drafting people that they notice posting useful information, having a high post count, and those that are frequently on the boards to be moderators.

Pheww...that was a mouth-full. LOL

santacruz, that's what the FAQ threads are for, I have opinions/testimonials sections, all the user has to do is post his information and i'll post it up.

Well, there's nothing in there except stuff about the board! LOL
It should be something on the forums like...right at the top labeled. LOOK FOR ANSWERS HERE!!! I bet most of the users haven't even ever looked in the FAQ. I hadn't looked in there until just now because it's not a forum.

If you're talking about the Newbie and FAQ section. That's just full of a buncha ppl saying. Hey, look at the pictures I just took of my just off the lot car. Check out my awesome valve stems! LOL

It needs to be a more heavily restricted forum. That's like...an open forum where anyone can post useless helpless posts.

Now see...I didn't even know those existed! LMAO
A lot of people that visit this site are probably just looking for some quick info and don't bother to do anymore than register and post their question.

I have another idea! LOL
After a person registers they have to wait like...a week or some perios of time before they are allowed to start a thread. They can post but not a new thread. That would be a great feature. Give them some time to browse for their answer before asking it.

Yeah, I had thought about that as well.

I'll talk to the admin and see what we can do.
