Yeah, title pretty much says it all. Why on EARTH are there google ads in every post now? They are all the same ad, as well. I don't see how that will help anything, if its always the same "pop up" ad.
Install Adblock plugin in FireFox and then choose tools->adblock->list all blockable elements. You'll see everything on the page that can be blocked.
You can probably add *.googlesyndication.com/* to your block rules to get rid of it.

Not sure if this is the same one Dan is talking about but I'm not using FF & I'm getting some sort of ad on every 1st post. See screenshot:

Edit - The AdBlock plugin for FF seems to work wonders!
Good FireFox plugins:
googlebar (like the IE googlebar, but better)
Hide Searchbar (lets you turn off the default FF search bar since you don't need it with googlebar)
tabbrowser prefs (lets you do cool things like force clicked links to open in a new tab instead of creating a new window)
ieview (context menu option that lets you open links in IE. This is good for opening stuff like ActiveX pages or Windows Media content that doesn't work well in FF)
imagezoom (zoom in on images)
miniT drag+indicator (lets you drag tabs around to sort them however you like)
session saver (this one breaks a lot, but once it gets patched enough it will be cool. It saves all your open tabs when you close FF, and then restores them all when you run FF again!)

The ads are extremely vague and unappealing. I can't imagine that they generate more than $5 in revenue per month. The administrators should compare this miniscule benefit to the cost in site usability and enjoyment (which is admittedly small, but perhaps more significant).
They probably don't have much faith in the ads anyway, considering the mods are telling everyone how to block them..
