In fact, I use a lot of search and still have a lot of unanswered noob questions. It is just that the other newbies had asked some of them for me to save me from flaming or I simply did not feel like to ask because I certainly knew I would get flamed...

In my honest opinion: because they want to be baby bottle-fed, want to get all the answers handed to them on a silver platter, the value of "research" is lost to them, they're lazy, ...

Remember that if the thread wouldn't be started, there wouldn't be any "Search!" replies and the screen would not fill up with a zillion of annoying threads...

Like Kyle said, the best practice would be to "ignore" if you do not have anything nice to say. If one person suggests to use the "search" then that one message is enough and not everyone needs to repeat posting the same thing over and over.

However, I still stand my opinion about going thru the search first before asking the question. This will save the bandwidth and also will contribute to speeding up the web surfing on this forum.

I was referring to making innocent fun of people that post strange things like "will the 2080 350z..."

I am not referring to pure harassment, hatred, that kind of intolerable things. I don't like that either.

Some of the post are funny, not "wrong". In the above mentioned "2080-model" thread, someone posted a pic of a back to the Future Z. Funny, not hating.

On a sidenote: On the local board, we make fun of everyone that makes a mistake, exagerates or brags about owning a non-existing car . It's innocent fun, and the posts most of the time are really funny. Everyone knows what he gets himself into posting something stupid... People talk about hitting each other in the face one day, next day they're drinking beers together... what can I say... maybe some/most of the flaming is not hatred ??????

how bout this- if you see a thread thats a repost or you don't like- dont look at it. keep scrolling down the "get new posts" for stuff you find relevent. that way you separate the people who flame from the people who help out. i dunno about you but i dont have the time neither the patience to read the hundreds of posts that either get called reposts or simply don't justify my problems.im not saying i repost stuff and create "stupid" threads, but a personalized solution from a fellow z member is pretty nice, i mean thats why we use z forums

How bout you search through the BS? You don't have the time or patience? Please. Your time is so much more valuable than anyone else's? Where did this sense of entitlement come from? Just search, find your answers, and if there is still a problem start your new thread.

Descriptions are not very "descriptive". You have to open a thread to see what's in there and most of the reposts are videos. Helps that there's a "repost" under the video, so you don't have to open up the same video all over again on a slow connection.

And yes, I come here to read about the good stuff and try to help out members that still have questions after searching or genuine new questions...

You're right..
But I think for friends that are close, that's how they play..
But if you are treating someone you dont actually know them.. It's not so polite...

I love your quote:

50 percent of the posts are worthless. The other 50 percent contain worthwhile information. Sort of mirrors life in general. *****ing is OK, but more helpful is to became a member of the second contributing 50 percent.

IGNORE is a fantastic tool. Use it.

If said this once and I will say it again.

A lot of members on this forum think that knowledge comes with the higher post count.. It does not. Some members like to ridicule others for so called “Stupid question” while others might like to laugh at others political background, religion and even writing skills.

I’m sure those members feel that because they have a high post count, they know it all … well NO …

I do remember some of the so called “know it all” members asking as they like to refer to a “stupid question” some time back, but not that long of time back … and now they think they are experts !!!

So to those members please sit back, relax and remember the good old days … when things were simple … you ask a question, you get an answer … nothing more, nothing less … If you don’t like the question … don’t reply, move on.

This also applies to vendors or product developers. When a product developer comes and shares his/her product with us …. Listen to them .. don’t fight them like every one on this board thought of the product first .. or it will not work because all of the this and that …. If you shut them down form the start .. you will never learn anything.

Therefore, let’s all be open minded about new members, venders, product developers, whom ever comes here … and show your hospitality.

Thank you for reading,

Az

the only thing that sucks about this forum is clicking on a link that looks like it will have some useful info to realize that it's the same stupid thread about the ****ing popcharger. there is tons of great info out there everyday but it gets tiresome to look at the same **** everytime!!!!

Dear GOD.. +100000000000000000000

Otherwise, when a person DOES do a search... the have to wade thru 1000+ pop-charger threads... and guess what... they can't find the info they seek... so a useless thread is created once again.

And.. I really can't believe that this thread was even posted.. whats with kids these days... no thick skin / backbones?

Oh, and have you been to ClubRSX? They are vicious

I wasn't going to post here but I will go ahead and give my take on the subject. This forum offers a wealth of information and I have personally milked it for all the info my brain can take. But that's what it's here for. It's a tool, source of entertainment, source of knowledge, and pastime. Back in 03' I purchased the 350z. I was just like everyone else, a noob. I learned what I could through hands-on experience, then found this community. I joined, then began to read. I learned all the sections & forums. Sure it takes some time to learn how to navigate, but that's life. You live, you learn, you become wiser. The 1st time I started a useless thread, yes I recieved some flaming and was soon made aware of the search function. Shortly after that I used it for all my answers. We all know that sometimes the search function doesn't spit out what we need on the 1st try. Yeah yeah, that's life. It's no different than doing a Yahoo search. Change up your words, search options, or check spelling. I guarantee it'll give you new results. My point is, that after a month or so I was proficient in the search option, knew how to navigate, and avoided getting flamed. IMO today's youth and society in generally has become a cult of people that want answers and satisfaction at the snap of a finger. Patience is a thing of the past. I'm seeing this more and more on the boards. Just as many have said already, the only members complaining are the new ones. We know you guys have questions. We all had questions at one point and time. What the new members don't understand is how fusterating it is for others to have to scroll through all the reposts to get to a subject that really needs attention. The common rebutal I hear to this is, "if you don't like it don't read it". Well guys it's not that simple. First of all thread titles are misleading. The majority of the time it's necessary to open a thread to see what it's about. We all know that with the great amount of memebers posting at any giving, this slows the server down. It's very inconvenient to have to watch the hour glass on our browser sit dormant while it's trying to upload a page. It's congestion that causes this. We have members that start threads about cleaning their seats, in the "350z" section. There is an appropriate section for this. To all new members I say learn how to read and search more. Take the time and effort.
On the subject of harrassment. Yes I do believe that certain members take it too far. On the other hand, there are new members that do their fair share of flaming. I will not point out any specific ones because that's not my style or jobs. This is what the mods are for. Ironically, I will have to admit that I've been seeing a common trend for mods to reprimand regulars more than the new users. I'm not sure what the motive is for this, but I'm sure there is some business aspect behind it. Just as new members like to complain, so do the older members.
If there's anything that can be said to wrap it up in a nut shell I'd have to say the follow. Old members, ease up a little on the degree of harshness some use during a flaming session. Keep it clean. Newer members, have thicker skin, learn to assimulate like everyone before you. Just because you're new doesn't mean that the older members owe you anything. This includes their knowledge of the vehicle.

Default Think about this

Call me crazy, but I have been mulling over this all of last night. There's one thing that came to my mind that has never been adressed.

When you start a thread (or post in one) you get subscribed to it automatically. That means you get an email with the responses to that thread. You could actually just read your email without ever visiting the forum again. Is this what those "new members with repeat questions" do? Just post, then wait for a response by email? If that's the case, they are not contributing anything to the site (in the terms of hits, clickig on ads, ...)

Just so you know there's a setting in your control panel to turn that on and off.
