We've got one on our local SVT board. It's pretty cool, but hard to police.

We've got a snowmobile, a Mitsubishi, an SRT-4 and an f-body on our "SVT" Board timeslip database.

This should be a no brainer. Why hasn't it been implemented yet?

Because most of these addons don't think about scalability. So they create these tables and bad sql that do table scans and don't use indexes. So you have to rip the code apart line by line to process every SQL statment to make sure that it's using good SQL and not crushing your DB.

The more active your DB is the more important this is.

Hehe they tried that where I'm working at now.

PP850
16 dual core ultrasparc 4's (32 processors basically)
64G of ram
Oracle 9.2.0.6

And the queries are still sucking, a little bit less but still sucking the life out of the machine. SQL tuning is a whole job in itself of late for us.

I think the timeslip board is a great idea as well, if the Admins can figure out how to properly implement it.

it doesnt prove anything. you'll always have the idiots that post things like 2hp 40383tq, 3.01 second quarter mile. what good is that? even if you have to post a slip, they're easy to get.

if having to post say a video with the person in it showing his name/ screen name, now that would be good.

lol -- i'd like to see a "2hp 40383tq, 3.01 second" timeslip since they're "easy to get".

It's not that hard to prevent users from inserting meaningless records into the timeslip database. You simply make it a violation of the TOS if there are gross records posted. There are plenty of knowledgeable drag racers around here who know what's true/not true--and plenty of mods to enforce the rules. I'll even go as far as to volunteer to help keep that area clean and free of BS records.
