Default Honor among Vendors? I guess not here.

I think it is in really poor taste how some of these Vendors on this site are acting like Vultures.

Here is an example of what I mean.

Vendor #1: posts a thread about a new product they will be selling and asks who is interested.

I respond to the thread asking for more details on their product and pricing, etc.

Along comes a PM from Vendor #2 offering to sell me their stuff.

What bothers me is Vendor #2 should start his own THREAD about his product and let people contact him.

I view these vendors as pretty low and their PMs as being the same as SPAM emails.

Get some honor among yourselves. If you have a good product and a competitive price, people will buy from you. Spam people and no one will buy from you.

End of my rant, just had to get that off my chest.

honestly, I buy from whoever answers thier phone when I went with tuning factory they only got the deal because the first place I called didn't answer, so I moved on. I am happy I did.

honestly, I don't see a big problem with this practice, if they were posting in each other's threads I would be pissed. (or if they were insulting in their emails) was it rude?

Member: Guys I was thinking about getting a pop charger. Is $200 a good price?

Vendor: The pop charger is a good product, but we carry something better: the Super-Duper Air Sucker. PM for price.

Member: I like the Borla exhaust, but was looking for something with fewer pieces. Any Suggestions?

Vendor: We just got in a shipment of the XL-1000 exhausts. Sounds just like a 12-cylinder Lamborghini. PM for price.

Member: I need new tires. What to go either Goodyear or Michelin. Which do you recommend?

Vendor: The best tire is the Summito High Performance Racer. PM for price.

I discovered a great way to end unsolicited vendor advice. Put them on my OMIT list. Works great.

USN you speak the truth on this one... before i joined the team here @ performance motorsports i often was offered X product from X vendor saying it was better than Y vendor. to describe them as vultures is pretty much on point.

I see it as them being on their grind! To me its all about hustlin and getting your product to out there. Why wait for someone to come to you, go to them! If I was a vendor and I had an new shipment of x items, I want to move them.

I dont even bother selling stuff on here anymore as a result. There are vendors bumping their threads every day sometimes twice. There are other vendors with 20+ open threads in one section..This place has become worse than ebay to make sales. You dont know how much time I waste answering peoples PM, phonecalls, and emails about stuff, just for them to purchase online for $4 cheaper...Another thing is there are vendors who dont pay to advertise yet they promote their shop in their sigs and post links and pm people pricings without being a sponsored vendor..So what is the point of being a vendor here anymore..Im downgrading my membership to Premier member status in the new year..

On average, in a week, how many PM's do you get?

Just curious, I hear what you're saying though.

depends...As of late 20-50 since I dont really advertise alot of products online. Were more in house sales, and a smaller shop that specializes in installs mostly. Thing is, I get people calling my shop asking questions, and I dont usually want to be a dick to them, even if I know they live 2000 miles away and wont ever be customers of mine...Its alot of BS you deal with in this industry.

x10000000

I enjoy my time here, more so then any other site I vendor on, but there are some pretty big loop holes in the sponsorship system.

I might be wrong on this but, Why do members have to post prices and sponsers don't? Is there reasoning?

I don't go to Publix and pm the manager for the price of green beans? The price is ther for all to see. And if the price is high I don't buy them...

Hell i know this won't change anything just "ranting"

Because some vendors ***** out things WAAAAY below MAP pricing (Im guilty at time also) Map pricing in the Minimum Advertised Pricing you can sell a product line for set by the manufacturer of the product.if your advertising below MAP the manufacturer can cut you off.
