Default suggestion to prevent scamming..

I'm not to entirely sure if this has been brought up before, but i think that people should be required to have a picture of the item with their username/date or other type of information, this would make sure that the person would have the item in their possession and it could verify the condition it is in..

edit: if they dont post a picture with their username/date on it you could delete the for sale thread?
I would feel a whole lot better buying something from someone knowing that it is THEIR own picture and that they have it...
This could be required for all members or just new ones with no Itrader

just tossin it out there

Not a bad idea. I'll bring this up with the admins and see what they say.

Personally, I think it can and has a good chance of this suggestion being enforced. However, it'll be rough for the moderators (especially in the beginning) and ALL members must help out. Along with the moderators, the forum users must enforce this rule and report to a mod (via PM or report post function) when a violation to the new rule (if it becomes effective) has occurred.

i agree 100% im sure most members wouldnt really mind reporting a post.. but i think that this is doable because the mods just have to keep a look out on the for sale forums(which they already do an amazing job at) and the members have to do their part(following the rules) and pretty much all members do. Also if someone REALLY wants to sell their stuff i dont think that is such a pain to write their username on a piece of paper and take a picture of it... i dont know but i would feel a lot better about scammers..

i mean even though i dont have that many posts or itrader i still think it is the best idea to prevent scamming, i have no problem doing it if it will stop scamming. imo its pretty easy to enforce because i browse the marketplace NON-STOP looking for things just checking out posts i have no problem reporting problems, also when i usually see something wrong i post and just say wrong section or something but it seems like the most logical thing to do to prevent scammers

brilliant idea. that will take out the folk who really don't have the item they propose to sell. it will, however, do nothing to assist buyers who buy stuff from folk who have the item but are still scammers. so, it's a layer of yada yada that we shouldn't add."

Again, anyone who buys something online has to send money somewhere. They can send it through paypal to the registered seller or they can send it to the seller at an address. If there is an address, there is a seller....and they can't hide from fraud.

It will give them the confidence in KNOWING that they have the item..and scammers would most likely REFUSE to post pictures of their items w/their username...

You guys have to remember that this does not and will not guarantee to deter scammers who are determined to take advantage of others. It is merely a speedbump, not a brickwall, for them. There are various methods that can be used to scam still.

It's like the requirements we have (45 days or 300 posts, PM, or vendor/sponsorship). It may reduce the number of scammers, but not by much. Still, I think more is better, especially if it's only going to help the members.

I already tried. Sadly, it's a no for the moment.

As mentioned previously, this will only slow them down, not stop them. And thus, it's a waste of time, admins think.

For the time being, we'll just play it by ear. As prospective buyers/sellers, you should all just post, or ask to post, pictures as described above (with their my350z ID and date and whatever else you feel is necessary).
