My bad on this one. Actually, I had planned to have a "Welcome PM" for all those signing up a while ago and even discussed with yobri, the other admin. I don't have permission/access to that specific feature of our forum, so I was supposed to ask the IB personnel for the rights. Anyway, I got busy with some things and had completely forgotten about that.

Then you would have hundreds of different members flagging random stuff that they THINK should be removed but it's actually fine. That would be useless to setup and maintain. Not to mention a waste of time for the mods.

That would still require too much time. There's only a handful of us Mods, but thousands of members. It would turn into a "this member doesn't like that member, so they'll flag their thread" frenzy. The "report post" button is the best option to use for this...

30 days? You might as well require a credit card to sign up. I know I would just go to another forum..

Maybe 7-14 days or something. If someone wants an immediate answer for a question that is asked often, they have no choice but to search.

If nothing is done about this, don't get mad at the older members for jacking around in stupid threads and stuff. Don't ban an older member for calling a new douchebag out. This isn't a kid site. We don't need babysitters to protect people from verbal harm.

I think all new members should be required to watch this and then pass a test afterward before being able to post.

a test would be a nice touch...

like ten questions about the Z car

or like a picture of a ricer's car, and a tastefully modded Z have them pick one

or a warning banner

I actually thinks most of the OGs prefers to mess around in newb threads...

I always use the report button if the thread is out of line (to the point where a mod is needed such as racism, etc) Other than that I know the mod team is pretty watchful I see stuff get closed all the time...that's why you always wanna get in before the lock down

How about during registration you have a little test. Something simple. Questions like:
-Where can I find most useful information? Answer: sticky (Or at the top of the 1st page)
-If The information is not at the top where do I look next? Answer: search button
-If you want to ask about something specific about the engine where should you post? Answer: The engine sub forum
so on and so on.

If you want I can make a little test with options and what not. Keep it simple though.

Once the test is over, show the correct answers. That way they can a) read and learn, b) hopefully understand it better, c) teach them about a forum. Have a delay of about 40 sec so they can read it before submitting the registration. BUT make it know NICE AND BIG that there is a delay and they should read the correct answers. That is just a thought.

Hmmm I like this idea but if we can make it more "scavenger hunt" style that would be great. Make them find a "sticky" or "search" for a thread. After they do so, they can correctly click on an answer.
