I am not quite sure if this was mentioned in the previous pages.. But people that are infected should download, Spybot Search and Destory, and Malwarebyte's Anti-Malware program..[Perform scans in Safe boot, if possible]. These are freeware programs that are pretty effective.. Install it, update it and you should be fine.. I would strongly recommend Kaspersky Internet Security as your primary Anti-virus/Firewall program..

I would also suggest Windows XP users to disable their System Restore option until they get rid of the virus issue. If you don't, chances are the virus will duplicate itself from previous backups even if you try to get rid of it..

My spybot missed it. Searched in safe mode too. And yes it was updated.

MDHRZ, i'm just making a suggestion.. It's up to you to either take it or leave it.. That comment was unnecessary.

03aeroZ; Malwarebyte's should be able to detect that program. I have looked at forums for more information. I have personally disinfected this program with Malwarebyte's .. However there is some manual work needed..

This might be a good resource to consider..

I don't think you should have to pay a fee for software but that's just me. There are plenty of FREE alternatives when it comes to virus protection.

I posted a link to malwarebytes forums. They discuss this rogue app and how to rename malwarebytes to the name of a windows system file, it will then execute.

ive tried all these BS links. Ive even gotten Malwarebytes to sneak past the program, run the scan, 'find' the programs, 'delete' them, restart the computer, and they're still there when the computer starts again. this is a sack of horseshit and ive given up after these windows pop up every 20 seconds

i cant even open Excel spreadsheets; it blocks that saying its a corrupted program. so at this point this virus is costing our business money as we can not conduct business.

the reason these ****ing link instructions dont work is because it tells you to rename malwarebytes to explorer.exe; the program blocks even that from opening. at this point any program, function, or window opened via a click (anything not manually opened by myself) is blocked. even internet explorer links that open in a new window are blocked due to 'being infected: purchase software' windows from the virus.
