Default ATS Clutch GB

Ive setup a GB for the ATS clutche through the shop working on my car. This is a rather small and fast GB so i hope you guys can please help spread the news around. Ive paid the retail price of 2040 shipped but if this GB is successfull, i can get the discount as well!

https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....hreadid=100141

Please dont move this Mike..... please! Id thought this would help get this GB moving along since only FI guys would need this type of clutch.

I'd be game if the price is right and I can get a triple 1100kg version .

Dang it, this is my clutch of choice, but its too early for my pocket...

www.a-t-s-usa.com

You guys, that are considering a serious clutch, I think this is one of the best. Tilton is smaller, but also harder to drive (and the one thats not is way more $$$). This clutch has 9" diameter (stock 12"), whole assembly weighs at 25lbs (stock 45lbs) and the 'soft' versions can take most of our FI cars' power delivery. Great choice, IMHO.

There seems to be some interest in the ATS clutch but shelling out almost $2000 is hard to swallow so im going to have to extend this GB until we have at least 5 ppl.

The deadline for this group buy is now indefinite. We continue until we have enough ppl!

Please post away if your interested or have any questions.

[sigh] it's on my wishlist. I'm stuck with the stock tranny since I baby this car so much, and I'd prefer the ATS as well if the tranny ever needs replacement. :-/

I'd like to know more about this clutch though, and how well it handles abuse... it'll give me more confidence eventhough I barely drive aggressively.

At least 3 members on this board have the ATS clutch and they all say they love it. Ive felt i ran into a dead end reasearching our car's drivetrain and so began using babelfish to look up Japanese articles. It seems the ATS carbon clutchs are very popular and hold out well to abuse. I'll have a full report on my expierence with the 1350kg twin disk ATS by the end of January. Hopefully with a little video or two.

I've driven a Z with the ATS Twin Disk Carbon Clutch (1350KG pressure plate), and that thing rocks. The throw is about 1/2 that of stock, and while it takes a little more leg muscle, it was quite tolerable. This was in skidazzle's old car that is putting out 453 RWHP. Lots of grab but still very manageable...When I F/I my car this coming summer, I will likely purchase this clutch as well.

What would be the difference in clutch pedal pressure between:

Triple carbon 1100kg
Triple carbon 1350kg "soft type"

I am looking for a clutch to hold 1000hp with the least amount of pedal pressure.

The clutch pedal effort for the 1100kg pressure plate is said to feel like stock. The 1350kg is going to be slightly heavier but from what everyone says, still is fairly daily driveable.

1000hp at the crank would require the ATS triple plate 1350kg clutch. With that much power, your looking at a substantial investment in the car. You might also want to consider the Tilton triple carbon carbon clutches as well.

This is the clutch I've been drooling over... :-P

How about feathering the clutch when launching? I know a
typical clutch would definitely heat up alot and wear out quicker. That's why I don't drive as aggressive. How about this sort of clutch?

They say you can slip it much easier and the hotter it gets the better it works so its definately the ultimate clutch.

Tilton is the best with out a question. But it cost lots pf $$$$$.

ATS clutch will do most anyone good for a long time and it is lots cheaper.

The big issue with a Tilton for a street ap, is that it's a PITA to re-shim fro adjustment on a regular basis. It is designed for hard core mostly NA -rally use were a hands-on approach is fine if it yields the least weight.

For a street friendly app. an adjust once and forget clutch is desirable, such as the ATS or RPS carbon. Also the ultr light weight afforded the tilton buys jack in a high boost TT app.
Like all we need is even more wheel spin.
