The profec e01 is not only a boost controller, like the profec B, but it also data logs (3 inputs), programs the emanage, and has a nice lil' LCD to display your readings. I like it, but haven't utilized all its functions at the moment (currently only use it as a boost controller).

The Profec-e01 with the eManage is like peanut butter to jelly. If you have an eManage, you really should be getting the e-01. The e-01 is an eMange programmer and interface, in addition to a great little boost controller.

The Spec B is just a boost controller.

Trust me....if you have an eManage...get the e-01. If you dont have an eManage, then either one is fine.

Thanks again !

Yup, but its a wired remote that tends to get in the way . . .

I presume you're getting a Greddy TT kit? I'd stick with stock boost unless you are building the engine at the same time. The stock maps will run rich and not idle as great as stock, but appears to be somewhat safe.

the AVCR like any boost controller, is universal. Yes it has gear based boost control...it also has like a 90 page instruction book and is a royal PIA to setup and keep working consistently (in my experience). If you have the E Manage, the E01 is the one to get. If not, the HKS EVC5 would be my own personal choice....super easy to setup, and works very very consistently

Let me know if you need any of them

REALLY...thats good news. I checked the Wiring Diagram for the AVCR on Apexis webpage but it did not have any listings for the Z33 ECU. I guess you could just use the SAFCII diagram. But keep wokring consistently? What do you mean. Is it not a good controller. That is the one i was looking at getting.

Actually guys, the best boost controller out is the Blitz SBC boost controller. check this out, you can set boost for each gear. meaning:

1st gear 10lbs
2nd gear 15lbs
3rd gear 20lbs....etc....

The Apexi AVC-R does the same thing.

Everyone has their favorites...ask 10 people, you'll get 11 answers. Having sold/used all the popular electronic ones at this point, my favorites remain the EVC5 and the Blitz SBCID3. Both are very easy to set up, and once done, did not require constant fiddling. On the AVCR's. we tend to find things just changing over the course of time and we have to make adjustments - I think its a case of having too many variables to tune to, making it hard to lear and hard to keep it doing the same thing everyday. With the HKS and Blitz, we can program it and the boost controller does the rest....just as I like it

E01 I have no experience with, so cannot comment

As for gear based boost control, it sounds nice on paper, but having played with it extensively, I found it a waste for most cars. While I can see its usefulness for strict drag use, for street use, I found no practical use for it...much easier just to lift your right foot a tad

avc-r is crap and old design that thing has been around since like '97. avc-r will never hold the same boost twice, it doesnt work well enough to both screwing with boost by gear.

SBC-iD is where its at or the lastest version of the HKS EVC. my latest EVC has been rock solid but it lacks boost by gear

I agree. The e-01 is your complete boost controller. The way the unit reads and logs data is very impressive. It picks up on signals and data much faster than many other units on the market, and thus when you go to playback, you are getting a much better reading of what was actually going on. It's a very nice unit for tuning. However, if cost is an issue, the profec B spec 2 is a nice choice. I have used this on cars in the past, as well as on a few of my friends cars and i really believe in this unit. You don't need to spend big bucks to get good performance out of a unit like this. If data logging is not important to you, then go with the profec B, but if you want more tuning capabilities out of your motor, the e-01 is the way to go.
The apex'i is nice, but there are many more parameters and adjustments with this unit, making initial tuning harder.

Have fun!

So far this is what I'll be ordering for my G :

-Greddy front bumper
-Boost and A/F gauges

would I need anything else ?

Thanks to all for your input !

You do not need to buy the boost gauge or the A/F gauge if you do not want to. You can get the boost & A/F to display on the E-01. The boost will display from the pressure sensor harness and you can buy a wideband o2 like the PLX Devices 250 or the AEM and have them connected to an external signal harness which will input into the E-01. You can even run your fuel pressure readings to your E-01 with the right harness. You need a good tuner who can set the values for the wideband and the fuel pressure. Make sure you get a wideband 02 for a more accurate reading.
