Default HKS+Crawford Plenum+Mines TP= 100+rwhp

....and an extremely lean air fuel ratio.

Hey guys, I finally got around to installing my HKS kit and picked it up today from Z1 Motorsports in Carrollton, Ga. They have an awesome shop and very friendly staff, so if you live in the south take your car to Z1 Motorsports. Anyways, my car dynoed 226rwhp 222rwtq baseline, 325rwhp 319rwtq after just the SC, and 330rwhp 326rwtq after test pipes. Although the car feels way more responsive, I haven't floored it or gone past 4.5k rpms because of the A/F ratio. I'm looking to buy a stock plenum in order to keep my strut bar or call Technosquare to see if they can fix the A/F with the plenum. The only thing I'm dissapointed with is that I don't get to keep a strut bar with the plenum and the HKS. Here are my dynos, there are pics during install, and I will post my own pics soon.at Z1

Something strange did happen to me on the way home from the shop, as I was on the exit ramp turning, I suddenly feel my steering wheel getting stuck...my engine had shut off when I took the car out of 6th gear. Before I realize how much danger that could've been I just restarted the car. It feels fine now but I dont know what happend to cause the engine to shut off.

huge difference in AF curves comparing the SC and the addition of test pipes.. is the setup in the 3rd chart what you are running now?

Funny you should mention that. I had the same thing happen to me but i was going sideways in 1st, 2nd, and shifting to 3rd and when I decelerated I noticed the engine turned off. I thought that it was my keys swinging as I have quite a few keys on my key ring and inadvertently swung off and back on again. I never had the problem again. Let me know how often it happens to you.

it seems to me the test pipes are throwing the a/f off. the plenum only affected top end.

and yes the last chart is what I'm running. I wanted to take the test pipes off but the egts were already attached.

MR. Rizk, I've had a couple time where the radio turned off while i was doin a heal toe down shift and goin into a turn but all that was was a distraction because the engine stayed on.

Lookin good man, I'm going to dyno mine again this week since we took the dc headers off and put some miles on the HKS. She drives great and my only problem is I keep hitting the rev limiter in 1st and 2nd, sure flies thru the gears. I'm very anxious to see how she dynos without the dc headers.

nice numbers with the hks, didn't think they were pushing that much hp. nice torque also, you'll need to head down to fort walton beach sometime, i'll have a video of mine up in a few days.

I've seen a few of the HKS SC's lean out significantly with the addition of mods. Most of the F/I kits come pig-rich out of the box...seems like the HKS is tuned more aggresively, so any additional mods appear to lean out the mix.

The Fcon box comes premapped for a specified volume of air. You guys are changing the equation and the Fcon isn't able to compensate.

Will the Crawford Strut bar fit in there with the S/C?

Can the Fcon be "remapped" to make up for additional mods?

Yes and No. Yes it can but HKS isnt releasing the codes as of yet. So right now No. The only other option is get the FCON V pro or wait for god know how long for AEM to get one out

Ditto. IMHO, you should NEVER EVER install such power mods and drop in a relfashed or basemapped engine management solution. I don't care who did it. And then to drop more power mods on it...
Always have your car tuned by someone working on your car .
The same entire situation occured with Subaru STi's when they first came out. Everyone was making more power with them with poor or no decent engine management. The motors were popping at an alarming rate. Such things as broken ring lands were prevalent. Then, ppl started to actually tune the car as a whole; that means fuel and timing with a decent system. Now before they couldn't get much over 350 whp before expecting them to pop. They thought it was all the weak pistons and whatnot. Now, we've put down 460 wheel torque and 450 wheel horsepower on a stock motor.
Tuning does wonders.
