Default Vortech filter change

I have had my vortech for about 10k miles and still have not changed the filter. Am I way past due - when should this be done? And is their a direct replacement from vortech im assuming?

If you have the original filter , it is a K&N filter and can be cleaned with there cleaning kit and put back in . Easiest way for me to remove it was to take off the innner fender well . Loosen the clamp and pry it off the blower and push it down . The filter bends pretty easy...Bill

As you have seen, and as booger describes, removing/cleaning/changing the filter is not simple. CaneZMD has replaced the filter that came with the Vortech with: K&N #RU-4410. He indicates he can "clean it at every oil change". You might want to send a PM and confirm. Would be something interesting to post. He originally made this comment in a post on 06-13-2004 .

Thanks SungNamZ - I wasnt about to attempt it - think I may just get the new filter and have my shop take care of it. I'll look into it.

I have that K&N # 4410.....I just thought it was to small to flow enough air ..even when clean....so its sitting on the shelf . If you want...for $30 I'll send it to you . Look to see what it cost ...I cant remember . Im guessing I paid about $40...Pm me

Is this the exact replacement filter for the Vortech unit.....or is it one that just happens to fit?

To get the exact replacement, Im assuming it has to come from Vortech? or does Vortech outsource someone else for the filter?

The original is good for just about ever....think 100,000 miles . But I think they are made for Vortech.....you would have to call Vortech on that one
