Started NA..wanting ~330rwhp..will I need internals for F/I?
It seems there are more threads about building up the engine than actual F/I systems now. Is this because of the constant need for more power?
All I want is around 330rwhp.
What are my best options? I started NA, but it looks like I wouldn't be able to do much better than 270-280rwhp. I was considering stillen or vortech... also turbonetics single turbo.
What would be safest option? Besides the initial system, which will cost the most for extras to make it reliable? Will I need an internal build up with less than 350rwhp?
I read this section daily, but I'm still a little confused on the best route.

Safest option = forged internals, which ironically equates out to the most expensive.
Drop the CR down to 9.5:1 and that would probably put you around 350'ish wheel hp.
But alteast with the Vortech and stock boost, with a good custom tune for 91 octane you should be a lil north of your 330 goal daily driven without having to worry about your VQ spilling it's oil.

And now thinking about it. For the best performance for your buck between the T and Vortech, becuase of our altitude I'd say you should probably consider the T. You'd have a funner power band with it, and the power output would be more equal to sea level than the vortech were it's "8" psi, but relatively it's actually ~6 here.
Least with the T you'd definately be pushing 8. Only thing I dont like about them is the ECU reflash, you'd have to revert to stock to competently run their tune. UR crank pulley excluded. But if you have some more open exhaust mods (cats, dual exhaust, etc...) it's something that you'd wanna tune for. Which case you dont have many options there, other than fedex best guess tuning, or taking the car out of state.

You could certainly go forged and leave the power around 350whp. But it's nice to have the safety and ability to push the engine much further if you so desire.

go turbo! i've talked to several guys who went s/c and they regretted it!...turbo, in my opinion, is the way to go!
you might change your mind in your power desire in a year or two, you can just retune the car and tuen up the boost via a boost controller (e-01)...s/c doesnt allow you that luxary...if you are gonna do this f/i thing...do a rebuild, enough people have done it and are soon gonna be doing it (me) that is should be a "smooth enough" process....then you can run 330rwhp if you want (you won't)..or turn it up to 500rwhp! or more! with much more peace of mind!

My C5 had right over 300 and I was pretty pleased. I've ridden in a 500+whp skyline and it was just too much. (Is there such a thing?)
I want a 12 sec. car on street tires (12.8-12.9@sea level). But most importantly, I just want to be able to beat a stock C5.

I got my kit installed at Z1 Motorsports in Carrollton, Ga. Pulls all the way to redline and the response is crisp.
Here is the link for my dyno along with test pipes and plenum. The lean AFR is due to the latter 2 mods.

I got my Vortech installed at Z1 motorsports also.
1800 miles later with 8lb pully, I'm still on the stock belt, with stock ECU and hit 9.2lbs boost the other day when it was cold as a witches tit!
I usually can hit about 7.7-8.4 when she's warmed up all the way.
Oh yeah, she will take a stock C5!

Hmm I have several friends that have F/I with stock boost and some other mods and haven't blow any engines or anything... what is the basis to say that 340 rwhp is the top to stock botton end... even in this forum are people pushing almoust 400 rwhp with stock internals for a year now and have NO blown engines at all. ???

Any time you add F/I...you increase risk...that is an indisputable fact of nature...no free lunches.
