Default engine build: new hoses and belts necessary

if im in the process of doing a engine build is it necessary to get new hoses and new belts. also is it necessary to get them upgraded to stronger ones if my goal is around 550whp or will the stock hoses and belts be strong enough. thanks

Stock hoses should be fine..... but like the belts their replacement is mileage dependent. I would do the belts with the re-build just because they are relativelt cheap. For the hoses you could probably go with some new Samco's for a little flash and better quality if you wanted.

i really dont care for the flash of the samco hoses but i was wondering if the stock hoses and belts can handle 550-600 whp?

I think you can get them in black The stockers should be fine because you're not changing the coolant pressure or temp....really. If the temp is getting too high then a better rad might be in order.

Buy new hoses for the silicone base material... upgrading to handle more heat than stock rubber hoses. Buy new belts just because... Good luck with your rebuild, and keep us posted.

^^Agree^^ change them while the engine is pulled. My car is 17500miles on it, and I am swapping all of my hoses and belts. Belts will be stock items, hoses will be samco Blue.
