So the liners sound more like a brace. If you have a link to someone that sells them for the Z..lemme know. I havent been able to locate them. Since the car you are refering to is a race car...they may be custom fabricated or something?

Coming from a cast iron block background I have no idea what the difference between a sleeve and a liner is. Looks like it will be a hit or miss on the gear box. Anyone know if the VG30's have the same bellhousing bolt pattern?
I had something to do with that misconception. bluefish is head of PR for Smithtown Nissan, or Performance Motorsport. Their 13xx rwhp 350Z has custom made sleeves, im guessing closed deck.

The motor they're building now will have sleeves and a closed deck... The 1300hp motor just had liners... If the motors are still at the machine shop next week I'll take some pictures to show you the differences.

I'm taking a trip down to the machine shop this week and I'll take some pics of the different configurations, AEBS, Darton Liners, and below are some for the Darton MID... I'll also take some pics of the torque plate, and other tools that are used for balancing the motor...

I'll ask Weston to take some step by step pics from start to finish on the work I'm getting done to my block if your want them...

This is based on my experience with OTHER cars (not the Z).

Once you build the engine, you may have troubles with:

Clutch and pressure plate (they explode)
U-joints and CV joints (they break)
rear differential gears and limited-slip or posi unit (I stripped the ring gear once)
rear axles shafts (they break)
tires and traction problems (burn, bounce, & even broken lugs)

Bottom line: You gotta pay to play.

Has any 400hp++ cars on here have any of these problems so far?
