Default What's the deal with cams and FI???

I have been watching the board to collect opinions on FI and aftermarket cams. Opinions seem to vary. Many say the stockers are fine and others insist on cams to get the really big power. But I want to get feedback from the guys who are running the cams with their FI of any type. I would like to get opinions on daily driveability with the cams and FI and possibly any feedback from tuners on the board who have done dyno work with cams and FI.
Anybody?? Thanks.

Well the problems Im having is mostly with partial throttle and being in boost . But I believe that is from limits of what the SS box with Vortech can do . And adjustments with the BOV . With the cams , Im running only -6.5 of vacuum and it doesnt take much gas pedal to get into boost . So transition from vacuum to boost seems to be tricky to get the A/F right . Im sure with a better engine management system I wouoldnt be having the problems I am having .

I have no direct experiance, but from conversations I have had, the JWT and Nismo (designed by JWT) cams are quite complementary to TT setups. (I would imagine this would hold true for S/C also, but I've never heard an opnion directlr from anyone on that one.)

I am planning to get Nismo cams this summer while I am waiting for a TT kit.

I have the APS + JWT Cams.

It revs really quick allowing the turbos to spool really quickly.
Zcargarage tuned 2 cars with the APS turbo system. Mine with cams made 410 at the same tune with cats and theirs made 375 or 370. Both had the same JWT flywheel, Nismo exhaust, and 19 rims.

I've given several rides in it and everyone is amazed at how it revs quick.

I have the Tomei 268's running NA (& n2o) but can't give you any info about how they'll do with a Turbo. Will be adding a TT in less than 30 days so will know then!

How do you find the daily driving with the cams...I am assuming you bumped your idle up to around 850 to prevent stalling??
