woah, most super cars aren't reliable either.. hehe

and why not? if that was the case, everyone should be driving civics around.
but high horsepower cars are great to have, even on the street, makes passing easy. but a lot of people just happen to drive their car on the streets, and like i used to, track it every weekend i could. i just didn't have another car at the time to drive around, so the MR2 was my daily driver.

I never track, but I sure as hell go WOT through 1st, 2nd, and 3rd several times a day (on back roads or when there is no traffic. It is not about racing for me, it is about the feeling of power and torque.....although I will play here and there when someone tries me.

THAT depends on where you live. There are quite a few places where I live where you can go fast.

7K is just for the kit. Cost to build up new engine, installation, i would say the cost top at 15K and you just keep hoping that they are not blow up or you will spend another 15K.

Ok pops! Thanks for the tip.

I am curious....why did you buy a $35K sports car? You could have saved yourself $25K and bought a kia since you are not into driving fast.

Ok. I tuned it myself. I've tuned quite a few FI cars with standalones and piggybacks, I know what I'm doing. I always had my eye on the EGT and the wideband, fuel and timing were tuned VERY conservatively. I just pulled some stuff and got a good look at the damage, it looks like Cyl 5, could be 6 I'm not sure cause this is my first shot at the VQ. The piston is shattered, the rod is bent, and the rod cap it broken off and is in a million pieces. The good part is, my block thus far seems to be ok. The bedplate or lower oil pan whatever it is has the big window. It's a shame that the damage is so severe. It makes it difficult to tell exactly what caused the problem. Also, at first glance the crank journals look fine so it wasn't a oil starvation issue. I did manage to get a large chunk of the piston out. It's almost laughable how weak they are. The rods are quite peckerifick also. I'm truly amazed it lasted as long as it did. I just hope the block is salvageable!

Did you build your motor up at all with pistons, rods, cams, etc.. or did you just strap a turbo kit on it?

The kit didn't come with any 'Straps'

I'm not loaded, I can't drop 15k on my car all in one shot. I'm not even slightly upset about it, I knew it would happen eventually. So now I just rebuild it better, like I do with all my cars.

But wouldn't have been smarter to just build it up in the first place a little more since you knew it would blow like it did and then put a TT on it? Wouldn't that save you more money then blowing the motor and rebuilding it again?

He said he did not have all the money in one shot, so yeah it would be smarter if he had the money......anyway he got to driver the car for a year and now it sounds like he has the money. Really not a big deal unless he is stuck without a car until the rebuild is done. I don't think is the case, since he stated that the car was stored for the winter.

Yeah but if he spent the money to build up the block, instead of spending the money to TT it, then TT it when he had more money, he wouldn't have blown the motor that's all i'm saying. But if it's not that big of a deal that that's sweet. Good luck with the rebuild!

If he would have built the motor and not installed the TT kit, he would be driving a slower car than what he bought. You use power with lower compression pistons and an n/a motor. What fun would that be driving around with a built motor and no boost????

It is what it is. Nice to see you guys are so concerned about my transportation, thanks.

I have a 86 300zx and an eclipse so I'm not really missing out on the Spring sports car drivin.

Just saw my last post. I meant you loose power with lower compression on a n/a motor.
