Default What oil for turbo engines?

Well its near 10 p.m. and i am waiting to here what the guys that have to say about the TN kit.(someone said they would have it ready by Friday) So any ways I am chomping on the bit to see how it goes. And now I just saw a GB for APS ST. So I figured if I just ask little questions here and there it would hold me over till we here back from the lucky ones with the kit already. So what does everyone sugest to use for motor oil for a turbo car. I use Mobile 1. Can i just stick to that or would I have to change when I go turbo?

I have been doing some reaqserch about oil. I have heard that for FI engines, it is better to get an oil on the thicker vs. thinner side of what is spec'ed for the engine. The reason being that the increased pressure with forced induction can make thinner oils squeeze past gaskets and such and then you may start burning oil.

I understand that Mobil One is great oil, but it has a chracateristic of appearing thinner when compared to other oils of the same w-rating.

Assuming you are running your Z in above zero temps, best to run 10w40.

I have been checking out this forum all about oil...most their swear by Schaeffers Oil...

I've had two turbo cars, one with a built motor. Mobil 1 10/40 has never done me wrong!

Yeah, but I would think it's just some synthetic oil rebadged. Maybe not, but it seems like it would be difficult to formulate your own oil not being a giant oil company.

Yeah, but I would personally only use it for motor break in.

but it is always spinning, you are always at either boost or vacuum if the car is running. 200 miles should be fine to break in a turbo.

I was only talking about breaking in a built motor, turbo doesn't matter, just use synth.
