Turbo Timer install Q.
I wasn't able to find much info on this so maybe hopefully can help me out... When installing a turbo timer, is it necessary to somehow bypass the ignition lock-out feature of the security system? If so, how do you do it?
Any other tips on doing the install? I haven't seen a harness available for the 350 so is it necessary to splice into the ECU wires?

I dunno exactly how the keychip lockout is implemented in a Z, but it should disable only the starter signal. If that is the case turbo timer should be installed without having to mess with the keychip thing. If not i think the only solution would be to hide a spare key/transmiter in the car somewhere so the imobilzer is disabled all together.
If you don't want to cut right into the ECU harness then you can buy a ECU patch harness. Its a little on the $$$ side but it makes it really easy to go back to stock, if you plan on removing anything....etc.
Thanks for the responses. That harness is pretty expensive. It's a good idea but I'd rather not spend $300 to install a $150 turbo timer...

On a turbo timer you shouldn't need to bypass the transponder system. The transponder system is only checked when starting the car. Once the car is started you should be able to remove the key and the car should continue to run (as long as the ignition circuits are still engergized.
If you do need to bypass the transponder then you could use a DED 555U and a spare key, but you would have to wire it up in a creative way to prevent the car from 'seeing' both keys at the same time (which most of the time will delete both keys from memory).
