Default Vortech/ECU installation

I have a few questions that hopfully someone will be able to answer for me. I'm not sure where to find some of these wires I have to tap for the timing controller.

Says: J. Connect the GREEN wire to the wire leading t o the MAF sensor.

M. Connect the BLUE wire to the wire leading to the crank sensor.

P. Connect the YELLOW wire to the wire leading to the cam sensor.

S. Connect the TAN wire to the wire leading to the cam sennsor.

Could someone please help me find these wires? It says they go to the engine sensors. but if I remember correctly the MAF has more then one wire going into it so I'm kind of getting confused.

Thank you

Rob

You need to pull the ECU & wiring harness down from under the passenger side dash to expose the wires going to the ECU. This is where you cut and splice the SplitSec Box into the wiring. There is also an aftermarket harness available that goes between the ECU and stock wiring harness that you can use to cut rather than cutting up the stock one.

I have the harness, The instructions tell me which wires (terminal) I have to splice into. But for the 4 wires stated above it does not say where I can find these wires. Was wondering if someone could tell me which they are.

If you look on page 21 of 24 it will explain a bit more to what I'm trying to find out. I'm looking for the wires that are going to the sensors. Not the ECU.

Thank you

That drawing can be a little confusing. If I recall correctly from when I installed mine this is how the diagram works but, I would definitley confirm with Vortech.

Using the 350Z Red/Blue ECU wire (14) as the example, you will cut it near the harness leaving enough wire still on the connector to work with. You will then connect the tan/black wire from the split second box to the wire still attached to the connector. The tan wire from the split second box will be connected to the portion of the red/blue wire (14) that runs back into the wire loom. You are basically splicing the the split second box into the wiring harness so that it intercepts the sensor signals. Just repeat for all of the wires.

HTH and please keep in mind you should verify this with Vortech before you cut anything. I am not responsible if this information is not accurate.

AHHHHHH These instructions are so stupid!!!. So basicaly I cut the wire connect the tan/black going to the ECU and the tan going to the sensor.

Damn I feel stupid.

Thank you for the help. The Vortech guy couldn't even explain if right until I told him the way you just said. Then he's like YA YA thats right LOL.

Must remove the ECU first then remove the connector that mates to the ECU.The wire bundle that goes into the connector that you have removed are the ones that you splice into..However as was mentioned in an earlier thread, you can buy a 350z harness assembly (goes between the ECU connector and the mating connector) that you would splice into thereby leaving the stock harness uncut..Hope this is helpful

Check out AutoSportWiring.com. They have the ECU patch harness--expensive, but the only way to go if you're DIY.
