SGP is going to build my bottom end. Here are their packages. I found this to be the easiest and best choice for me since I have never gotten this done before and don't just want to go with any shop. SGP does quality proven work. The core charge is refunded when you ship them your block, although SGP does not have any blocks right now so you will have buy one or ship them yours.

Don't take it personally. Sometimes the same questions gets asked several times a week, so some of the veterans get a little tired of it.

BTW, SGP racing is a sponser on this site.

what is the difference between short block and long block? and what would be the best block setup for APS TT and lets say 500 to 600 rwhp???

I'd assume Upgraded Long Block #3 would work well?

Also with proper maintance would it work fine within 3-5 years?

Thanks for your help guys, I just need all that info!!!

Short block = bottom end only (ie not the head)

Long block = whole motor including bottom end and head

If you go with the ultimate short block you should hit up to 530whp. If you add cams to that maybe 550whp. To go over 600whp you need head work so long block#3 would be good. As far as the motor lasting 3-5, I don't know. It guess it depends how hard and how much you beat the car. SGP offer a 1 year warranty on their motors. You can also buy a 3 year extened warranty. The short block 3 year warranty is $300 and the long block warranty is $500. I will let you know in 3 years how my SGP short block is doing....j/k

This might be a dumb question but I have to ask!!! Would building your engine mess up your carb approval?

Lower CR motors, will have higher emmissions output. But CARB approval is something that parts manufacturers are seeking, not the consumer. You wil still have to pass smog tests in your state, but building the motor, in itself, will not prevent you from getting a smog cert. It really depends on the work you are doing, and your total emmissions level as a result of all of those mods.

keep in mind also that besides those costs... there is still labor costs... which could range from free to extremely expensive...

make sure you consider asking shops for those costs when you think about doing this.
