I actually got to run a silverstone Z vortech, borla TD, 275 (18") rear with the 9 pound pulley from a stop, it wasn't even close (the stillen low end torque!) - from a roll we were pretty even but it depended on how he was shifting, if he got the RPM's up he took me. We split 4 runs from a roll.

Does the turbonetics kit have its own exhaust manifolds? What all mods could I get that would still work with the kit? Anything I have to buy after I get the kit?

You think you could take a Z06? From a stop, roll, or all the way around?!! Do you have any 0-60 or 1/4 or 1/8 times? I would love to see those!

 

I have driven something with 340 whp or more. And it is alot of power, but when you go to buy a product that says it has been dynoed by them at 386 and then you see 2 others that are 20-40 whp less it makes you scratch your head a little bit. Does it not? And for the record I never said it wasnt good enough or I was disappointed just curious and concerned and was wondering how much alttitude had effected the whp and boost. I am not trying to bash T-netics at all, I cant wait to get my kit. Its just when you pay $4600 and up for a kit that says it will do this and it turns out it actually does less you would want an explanation, thats all.

Eh? You should take a look at MIA threads (like his first one on this subject), there is no new exhaust manifolds like some TT kits. You still use the stock ones.

 

I agree. And thats why I replied regarding altitiude and boost. Although I can't reveal my last dyno numbers (will have some more this Friday) it was a bit more then they pulled. I have to say that something is affecting their power output. I would still like to know how much boost they are seeing at WOT in 4 and 5 gear. In an earlier post they said it was 6-7. Mine is more like 8-8.5

 

No the kit uses the stock manifolds. They are made of SS409 double wall steel. Chances of them carcking...Slim to none. As for what mods...Exhaust as long as it is a y pipe back exhaust would help. Clutch, flywheel, cams, the usual suspects. The only limitation is that the exhaust either must begin life as a y pipe back or be made into a y pipe back. As for other stuff to get..I highly recommend the following gauges: boost, Wideband AF, Fuel Pressure, Oil Temp

Hmm, maybe more to it than that. To my knowledge, the Stillen SC has not blown a motor yet but has much greater low-end torque than other SC available for the 350Z yet they have had some engine failures.

 

We're still at it Jason, just put a larger washer in the waste gate. We want to see what power we can make at 8lbs boost.

no, you are totally correct

altitude will affect boost, but not by much, we have consistantly seen fI cars here produce at least one pound less psi than the rated value at sea level, this of course is referring to the net effect on cylinder pressure...when dealing with less dense air from the beginning, when it is compressed and fed into the cylinder, it will be of a lower net psi pressure...so, at this altitude, running a boost controller with another 1-2psi, will create a similar cylinder pressure as to what would be had at sea level..

this was discussed thoroughly, several times on this forum in the past, corky bell touches on it briefly in his book, but, more importantly, a physics 101 class would bring most of this to light.

That's more like it! I plan on running 8.5 PSI when my kit comes, as well.
