Default Break-In Period for Vortech?

I was wondering if there was a break-in period after the initial install of the Vortech SC. Mine is supposed to be done this Wed for the ZDayZ next weekend. I live in AL and will have to drive several hundred miles to ZDayZ and want to make sure it will be OK to drive that far. Also, there will be several Z's going from this area and some SC'ed ones as well. So I know it will be a VERY FAST drive there and just want to be sure it wont hurt anything to get on it this soon after the install.

PS: I did the search function and didnt find a thing.

Thanks,
Zach

I asked this same question when I was about to get my vortech installed. The answer is no! Let me give you some advice of how to break it in........have fun with it and stomp on the gas every chance you get.

Zach, have fun and don't snap your neck! The only thing that might become an issue are the belts. The "Gator" is probably going to stretch and need some tightening. Also, watch the cog belt. I know there is a thread/post on adjustment. So, take the necessary tools along for both.

nah you should be fine, i would change the belt tho, and take a few tools for certain parts that might vibrate loose after a few miles. not saying anything will, but always have a little toolkit handy, JIC.

Zach... I'm currently running the Dayco Polycog... really, it the Gatorback, or the Gates are all about the same. I've run them all and the only difference I've noticed is the Dayco has not required tightening as often, probably because it is a thicker belt.

BTW, don't just bring tools to fix the belts, also buy extra belts (at least one serpentine and one cogged) and stow them somewhere in your car. The most annoying maintanence issue with centrifugal type super-chargers is throwing a belt on the road and not having a replacement handy.

The way its looking, it will be pushing it to have it done by Wed or Thursday. If I get around to I will buy the belts.

Dayco "Poly Cog" part number: 5060935 or 5060940 Should be able to get it at "Checker". I went with the 5060935. Allows for more adjustment in the long term.

the 5060935 will fit the 3.33" pulley (kind of tight, but will work) and, I think, will also work for the 3.12"
